  1. Heat is your best friend. Use a heat gun and it should peel right off. If you don't have a heat gun park in the sunlight to get it warm.

    $60 HIDs

5k 9004 kit from http://www.hidextra.com. Use code meca2010 and they're only $60 with free shipping. I bought two kits. One for my Explorer and one for my brother's Excursion. I'll also be purchasing another kit for the wife's van. Everything is completely plug & play. No wiring or splicing required. Only took a few minutes to install. The pictures do make them look brighter then they actually are. Wife looked straight at them from the house and said they weren't overbearing. I took them for a test drive and didn't get flashed by anybody. Driving vid. Walk around.
  4. Got these brand new through Raybuck.com. They were a little over $200 shipped. Different colors are available. I'm slowly changing everything in the truck over to all black. No pockets which is a good thing. No speaker cloth. Everything is solid plastic except for the arm rest. It's padded. The door handle is a little different. Old one was plastic, this one is padded. Dusty on the back. They came with new plastic clips for the doors. New installation screws and directions. http://www.coverlaymfg.com/ They were cheaper through Raybuck though. I love these much better than the factory door panels. They'll be getting custom fiberglassed speaker pods holding two Selenium 6" mids and a Selenium st350 tweeter in each door. Can't wait to get them installed.
  5. Let me also add that the run was done totally sealed. And for the guys who aren't familiar with Bass Boxing, that score was the average of 30 seconds on music. I don't know what's going on with my arm in that pic?
  6. Won't be able to do it this week. Should be able to next week though.
  7. No need for a clutch on the pulley. It's computer controlled. I hated the factory electrical in my Yukon cause of that. It then hated me after installing a second non-computer controlled alt. Ecu kept freakin out.
  8. There's a few of us from Sumter. Time really is short this week but I'll see what I can do.
  9. You're gonna need a clamp meter to measure amperage output. Then you're gonna need a good way to put a load on the system. Clamp the alternators separately. Any extra batteries in the system should be disconnected also.
  10. Just got my new 300a alternator from MechMan. Matt has been great to work with. Super fast shipping. This will be an install log of this monster alternator going into my 1993 Ford Explorer 4.0L. Currently there is an XS Power d3100 under the hood and one in the back. The system consists of a Sundown Audio sax-100.4 for the doors and a pair of Sundown saz-3500s @ 0.5ohm each powering a pair of Sundown Z v.2 12"s. Start by removing the intake duct. Once it's out the way there is plenty of room to get to the alternator. Next thing is remove the belt. There are three mounting bolts. Unbolt those, undo the plugs, and unbolt the battery wire from the back of the alternator. Here's a few pics of the stock 95a alternator next to the MechMan 300a. Here you can see the dedicated grounding stud. Notice the much smaller pulley. Helps keep output up at idle. Close up shot of the larger than stock + stud and dedicated grounding point. Now simply reverse the steps above to install the new alternator. TESTING: Using a single saz-3500 @ 0.25ohm as a load on the system we clamped 180a of current @ 14.9v from the alternator at idle which is between 600-700rpms. At 1500rpm we clamped 250a @ 14.9v with absolutely zero voltage drop. A single amplifier @ 0.25ohm just wasn't enough of a load to get full output from the alternator. Just before leaving I got my second amp installed and hooked up. Won't get any more clamp testing done until tomorrow but cruising home with the volume full tilt playing music the voltage held up great. Worst voltage drop was into the mid 13v range on hard bass notes.
  11. That's Egg. He's cool. Goes by Spl140.2 online or something like that.
  12. Depending on how next week goes I might get to drive up. We can throw it in the Explorer for some good 12-15v testing.
  13. I would come finish it off for ya but me thinks you need to get your hands dirty a little more. That & the fact that I would have a severe allergy attack from all the dust collected on that thing.
  14. It's the weekend & last I heard he was out of town.
