  1. You are correct, no verses threads ... and ... I would put neither of those in a sound quality vehicle ... you might waht to ask the SPL guys info on them ... then come back to us on the Sound Quality side for the rest of the stuff ...
  2. Most 2 channel amps will handle a 2 ohm load "Stereo" ... but if the ohm load is off balance, I could very well be a problem ... Be sure to check your wiring configuration for proper balance ... and make sure your grounds are good, loose grounds will force a amp ot overwork itself and overheat ... Also, even though you "Show" good voltage, you may not have enough battery power ... Remember, class A/B amps are "High voltage" amps and not "High Current" amps like the Class Ds ... Trust me, there is a BIG difference ...
  3. Mids and highs amp (this may seem wierd) runs ALOT more bandwidth than sub amps ... The literally work harder ... Give them as much air flow as you can ... some people set their air cond. to bi-level and run ducts to their amp racks ... I'm in the process of doing this to mine ... Install fans over the summer to keep them cool if you can ... Just my suggestion here guys ...
  4. I use my crossover network in the headunit ... Never used the amps for any crossover work, Sorry ...
  5. My enclosure works great with PVC ports ... and VERY low tuning (22 htz)
  6. A female's ears are WAY more sensitive than a guy's ... You install all of those and your wife will not like the high pictch frequiencies comming from 4 of those tweeters ... let alone 16 of them ... They can handle bass a whole lot better than they can those highs ... My suggestion, 4 at the most ... 2 in the a-pillars and 2 in the doors ... and tone them down until she does not complain about them ...
  7. thats not a touchscreen if you're going for real SQ you should pretty much eliminate touchscreen HU's from your search. I know this ... I have a double din Kenwood DNX9980HD in my Sound Quality vehicle ... Works great for Sound Quality competitions ... and ... Do you not agree with me that the Pioneer DEX-P99RS is the best single Din headunit availiable for Sound Quality ?? If you disagree with me ... Would you please explain why ??
  8. I never said ANYTHING about you ... just your friend, Remember ?? The normal headunit (regardless of DIN size) primarily has 2 amplifiers ... one for RCA output, and one for High Level output ... The high level outputs normally put out around 20 to 50 watts per channel at 4 ohm stereo ... depending on the unit ... Some units have NO High Level output stages ...
  9. Just being honnest ... To be in car audio, you have to know some kind of electronic background ...
  10. You have 2 component sets ... why don't you use the passive crossovers that came with them ... then series the complete sets to a 8 ohm load for the 2 channel amp ??? or ... what final ohm load do you want the amp to see ??
  11. Guess my question is why would you need to run your Sub Bass Drivers full range ??
  12. pics of the doors in question would help out here Sir ...
  13. In my application, the stock door locations worked better for me than using my midbass drivers in the kick pannels ... The stock door locations gave me better width and can handle more lower end music without venting through the back of the fenders, which is something I was not going to do to a every day driven truck subject to water and mud ... My tweeter in the a-pillars blend in very well with the door drivers ... together, makes very good left and right separation ... the tweeters are angled for best sound in a 2 seat judged vehicle, and so are the door mid bass drivers ... My rears are installed to compliment the stage width making it easier for the front stage to work with a good center presence ... The center channel is there to help out with center most of the time, and for watching movies ...
  14. Is you high end components running off of the head unit alone ?? Is that factory location for the tweeters ?? and thats on hell of a large sub driver !!! WOW ...
  15. At the moment, I'm running about 150w per channel to my 2 way passive component set ... and about 800w to the subs ... Tomorrow, We will be running about 125w to the 5.25 center channel driver ... There will be more hitting that driver when the new amp arrives (in a few months) ...
  16. Cheap - cheap, cheap, cheap --- cheap http://www.ebay.com/...=item256dff5bb1 http://www.ebay.com/...=item484478f677 for the same money is used as well in offer. http://www.ebay.com/...=item3f0e43c8d0 http://www.ebay.com/...=item19bedaea7c nice German 2 way compset http://www.ebay.com/...33ed420&vxp=mtr JBL can do big as well, sorryly the big RF´s not in offer at E-bay. And can you tell exactly what you want 1 or 2 compsets + amp, subwoofer? WTF dude ... I am trying to help him out with his budget ... and you are mocking him ?? what gives ?? Next thing that may happen is for one of you guys direct him to DIYMA or something ... I would not pay those prices ... and I think I have better equipment anyways ...
  17. I can't give you recommendations on products (unless you go with Linear Power / Blues Car Audio) ... but I will try and help you with driver placement ... and get you the most sound for your money ... But I Firmly believe sounding good is more important than being loud and obnoxious ... My truck will get VERY loud, but sounds good to boot ... But then again, I've got alot invested in it ... If you feel the same way, Lets get started !!!
