  1. Yes, putting the sides on top of the bottom plate and then the top over the sides ( stacking) will make a difference in strength. Glue and or screws have a stronger sheer strength force then pullout force strength. Same will go for your front and back. Stack everything between the top and bottom plates. whenever possible, use wood glue. It is far stronger then screws alone
  2. I hope so. Gonna be a few busy months for sure. Its just all luck Sometimes it's better to be lucky then good.
  3. shit i cant wait my damn self, it should be fun and kinda loud. I was thinking I was nuts doing two 3.5K's on two 18XL's Meh, no worries, I'm just going to wire his subs to 4ohm
  4. Depends on what your looking to have done. I would suggest Paradyme or Auto Radio Stereo. Course a few people around sac have been known to do a build now and then
  5. So VIPmeetSPL came over yesterday to have me teach him some tips and tricks of doing a simple install. It was a long full day to cover all the basics. I also want to thank Blackedout for coming over and giving a hand getting everything done in one day. We did a full power run, big 3,2nd battery, mids and highs amp, DAT 2500, and box ported through the rear deck So of course we can thank car designers for putting the gas tank between the backseat and trunk. Thanks guys. Who needs a spare tire anymore. Just call AAA. Fuse holders tucked in tight and out of the way. Did a false floor to secure the battery and add a place for the mids and highs amps. Nothing like watching someone solder up his connections. 1st amp rack is finished. Making templates for the 2nd false floor. Second false floor is down and box is in. Subs and amp in and ready to be scoped Who needs a square wave when you can produce this. We went ahead and deleted the inline EQ and cleared up the signal. Little more work in the dash, but was well worth hunting it down. All that is left is to build a flush mount floor for the amp, add a little carpet and she will be done. Overall the car has a great sound. the subs get down right low. Of course with the trunk open it can get down right nasty but when the trunk is closed, it chokes the output. Might get in there and do some porting from the trunk to the rear deck and see if we can relieve some trunk pressure
  6. Only advise I can give you is to do what YOU want. Don't let others influence you into a direction you don't see fit for your dream. And mack sure your supply chains fully understand this as well. Good luck, put me down for a pair of 12's when they come off the production line.
  7. I think some of my magic mike goes back into the late 80's

  14. Yup. Got a whole stack of passes. Where's everyone staying?
  15. Hell Alpine has been the closest one yet. "tunning" you box higher means you didn't build the box correctly in the first place. My 2 18's ported box peaks at 37hz, plays down to 18hz with authority and will keep up with any speed double kick. Getting a low tuned box to play the double kick is easier then getting a higher tuned box to play the low notes. Try turning up the xover on the amp a little. My EQ brings the subs up to 63hz. My midbass comes in at 63hz and plays to 250 then the mids play from 250 to 3.2k and the tw takes the rest. A true dbl kick is in the 55ish range something that 99% of most midbass drivers CAN NOT keep up with. Don't short change your sub range on a bad design. Besides, a kick drum is on average 22" why would you want to reproduce that through a 6" speaker My 18's will give you a beating. Ask Roscoe he knows
  16. if y'all had real trucks, you wouldn't have to worry about a little weather
  17. While I am very happy to hear that there will be a finals location out here, I can't help to recall the money more then a few of us spent to get ready for a finals to have it NOT happen last year. Even the laughlin location left more then a few of us shrugging our shoulders after the event with the amount of attention that was lacking in the event. It doesn't take but a few missteps in planning to throw off the whole vibe of competing in an Org's format. Dale I think you are doing a hell of a job in taking over for Doug. I honestly didn't think anyone was going to put on a show that kept the energy up like Doug did. Not only have you, but you have done it in your own way to not make it a recycled Douggie show. I hope that you can right the wrongs that I think more then a few people felt out here over the years in DB Drags planning in regards to regional and finals. I myself have a hard time investing heavily into an org like I once had, to have history repeat itself. I do hope to see some solid changes as I do really miss competing and hope to see something worth investing my time and money in more seriously these next years. Bill
