maybe you should just get some really beefy 10's or 12's and seal it off from the trunk with some decent power going to them i'd imagine you'd have more than 8 inches of depth unless you have a smart car or a 2 door without back seats. IMO, 4 10's aren't worth walling. don't get your pants in a bunch, please. just trying to help you sort things out. lets see some pics of your car

I don't remember if it was like that or the other way around. i know they are less suitable than an air core inductor b/c they can induce distortion. but they're a hell of a lot cheaper. i really want to do an experiment to see just how much difference does it make to the slightly above average joe. it's hard to judge from reading because most of the people who review this stuff have very expensive tastes and VERY picky ears. Aren't those ment for the "lower" freqs? in a first order 6db/octave crossover, yes. it's used as the low pass filter. but second order 12/db octave crossovers are fairly common in ht systems too. they use a capacitor and inductor for every crossover point. then there's the least common 3rd order 18db/octave 4th order 24db/octave basically the higher the order you get, the sharper the frequency rolls off after the crossover point.

Did you use air or iron core inductors for your crossover? and what capacitors did you use? i'm considering this for a summer project.

Avoid prefab like stated before. build your own made SPECIFICALLY for your subs. there is no perfect box for every sub. that prefab won't sound near as good as if you build your own box.

ok i rounded a couple of numbers here and i'm not sure exactly what subs you're using but you get the point. use the front and back of the box as part of the port (hence 2 common port walls) you can round the length of the port if you want. when the port reaches the bottom of the box and needs to split, use half the width of the port. like this: here's the specs (rounded) of your box

title says it all. this is my $50 dorm system... couple of insignia 6.5" bookshelf speakers. i bought these half off for $50 because i was an employee at best buy. i gotta say it was well worth the investment. i'm pretty surprised at how these sound considering they're one of BBY's house brands. i've got an old JVC RX-778V home theater receiver that rescued from my parents' basement. got a bunch of features i never use lol. this system almost got me evicted last semester lol (oops). i'm surrounded by concrete walls and a heavy metal door and i can hear the lyrics to the song playing clearly 100 feet down the hallway with the door closed. i don't even have a sub, and the girl below me keeps bitching about her vent vibrating from the music. apparently her neighbors can hear it too. anyways, here's a little excursion video. let's see what you got!

^that one looks perfect except for the fact that bracing isn't taken into account. with bracing you're probably gonna end up tuned to 32 at a tad more than 12 cubes. if you want to add a 45 or two bracing will be about .3 which gives you 6 cubes per sub.
