  1. this is what I did to fill some screw holes... then couldn't be bothered waiting for it to dry, messed it all up using the router
  2. they're passive, they need an amplifier. some sound cards used to have a small amplifier built in that would run these (2x5watts or so) your laptop does not, so no, you really can't use them without an external amplifier.
  3. Exactly! Depends on the amperage that comes out of the light socket, if you were on a 30 amp breaker (assuming you could get all 30 amps to pass through the speaker without tripping the breaker) at 120v youd have about 3500 watts @ 60hz of pure wall socket enjoyment edit: 3600 to be exact ...that would depend entirely on the speakers impedance, and impedance rise.
  4. and this page seems to pretty clearly explain why cable select doesn't work. http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCS-c.html
  5. here: http://www.pchell.com/hardware/masterslaveorcableselect.shtml
  6. the end of the drives, next to where the IDE cables plug in. if the cable is just a straight ribbon cable, then its not setting master and slave, but I believe some cables had about 10 conductors twisted between the master and slave connectors, to change the second drive to slave... but I haven't seen that for ages!
  7. no, are the jumpers on the hard drives set to master and slave? the cable doesn't do this, its just a cable.
  8. are the drives set to master and slave with the jumpers on the end of the drive?
  9. I thought the flashing blue light was just the light for the alarm?
  10. you'd be stupid to click "buy it now" seller has no feedback, and has just made $800 for listing a dodgy listing. how can you go wrong!
  11. the amp isn't rated at 0.5ohm, its rated at 1ohm. the impedance isn't dropping, it just isn't rising as much. you aren't wired at 1ohm are you? you're wired at 0.5ohm.
  12. so what can I do to avoid it? the amp protecting that is wire it at 2ohm?
  13. most likely short circuit protection. your new box doesn't have as much impedance rise, so the amp is going into protect.
  14. you won't damage the sub, it'll just start acting more like a sealed box at high power. if you're running 100watts or less, you won't hear the port noise, but I'd assume you're running more than this
