door poppers
nickers replied to 87chevyboi's topic in Security Center - Car/Home Alarms, devices, tactics, tips....
looks like a good post, yes definetly poppers are boss. but then comes the question, which to get which i was im wondering. lets see what people say -
Im going to be installing some power bear claw style door poppers into my 1981 camaro and shavin the door handles. what i need to know is, what brand makes good door poppers that will be reliable and wont fail in a couple months, ive done some looking and ive found 3 brands that look good: autoloc, AVS, and electric life, now price doesnt really matter and i will be using these on a vipe alarm most likely so i dont need on with the remote and brain. thanks

do a dry park test.. park your truck get underneath the truck, grab onto you endlinks, tie rods, and any other moveable joint and push and pull, up do sideways, if you can feel any endplay you need to replace the joint, if they dont move you are good, also lift up you front end, grab top and bottom of your wheel and pull from top push on bottom and reverse, may need something stronger like a think metal bar, thatll check your ball joints. dont worry about replacing , just cuz the components are old doesnt mean they need replacing.

Viper 5901 remote start
nickers replied to TeddyG's topic in Security Center - Car/Home Alarms, devices, tactics, tips....
so what youre gonna wanna do is get your multimeter, or power probe if you have one, ground the neg lead of you meter and pierce the jacket of the pink wire with the pos, then put key in and turn to ignition position, should read 12v when it gets to the ign position, if it doesnt, test the other wire the same way and thats how youll tell which one to hook up too. A trick i learned is instead of doing a relay for your seconds is just tap a second wire off your 1st ignition wire off the brain and wire to second, in the case of your car, split the ign1 line into 2 lines and hook to ign 1 and 2, and split the accessory wire one side to acc1 the other to acc2. makes the install cleaner and doesnt affect function at all. all those wires do is send 12v at the right time nothing fancy. -

Remote bypass unit??
nickers replied to TeddyG's topic in Security Center - Car/Home Alarms, devices, tactics, tips....
lots of people come back because their bypass deprograms .. even DEI has told us that its better to hardwire vipers as its will eventually deprogram then we have to rewire the bypass. that and hardwiring guaruntees the functions of the bypass will work, in just the past 2 days 3 of the cars whos bypasses said they did certain functions didnt do them.. such as tach or door trigger or rap shutdown. -
the 5902 comes iwth all of that.. as for door lock interface... it has door lock and arm disarm outputs... but who needs that when my ads bypass does it for me.. and speaking as someone who gets paid to install em vipers dont like data connections, hardwiring is the best most reliable way to do it. 5902 remote is a color lc3 supercode remote which vibrates and displays alert messages along with event history of past triggers. starter kill is not something to brag about, but 5902 does it internally purple wire to connector side green wire to car side, if your battery ever goes dead your shit out of luck for getting it started.. all remote starts come with park light flash.. literally you just posted the manufacturers description of the product... the only difference is the 5902 has 4 aux outputs instead of 5 ... but its also a remote start so win some lose some. dual shock sensor is built into the brain of 5902 and its sensitivity can be adjusted.

viper 9501 install
nickers replied to gusto42o's topic in Security Center - Car/Home Alarms, devices, tactics, tips....
speaking as an installer of said remote start mounting a shock sensor (starter) on solid surfaces is gonna make the sensor ultrasentive, which may require tedius fine tuning. and also youre gonna want easy access to it for programming the bypass and troubleshooting wiring, and programming the starter with the bitwriter. headliner sounds like a good plan but a better solution would be up inside the top dash, i have mine mounted in behind my factory deck . yes i know factory deck .... gay. -

Remote bypass unit??
nickers replied to TeddyG's topic in Security Center - Car/Home Alarms, devices, tactics, tips....
ADS al-ca works pretty effing well for your car itll do door locks, trunk , immobilizer, and oem alarm and disarm, will also do tach output to the starter. hardwire bypass to the starter for viper, vipers dont like data connections trust me ive had enough remote start checks to know that, easier to do it right the first time. rememmber to program the tach too. just put a 5902 with an al-ca in my 2003 silverado, just need to program the tach and she``ll work just beauty. -
so not sure where the right place is for this, but im just wondering what are good brands of HID`s it seems like there are alot of generic brand ones out there, i want quality and reliability with a half decent life expectancy

field disturbance sensor, tilt sensor, and glass break sensor, those cover motion sensor, glass shattering, and even car being jacked up. motion sensor can be trigger if you set it up for say when people put there hands in your truck bed or in your window, or even come to close to your car. the brain of the alarm itself has a built in dual stage shock sensor, well it should if its anything like the 5902 alarm wise. all good investments in a secure car. can also add the voice module which sounds out messages which might suprise and scare off some asshole would-be thief more than a siren would.

noob mistake
nickers replied to armykyle1's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
the knock sensor can help keep timing in check, when it feelings a knock the piezoelectric crystal creates a voltage which then tells the electronic ignition to retard the timing, the knock could be predetonation or detonation, if the knock sensor isnt doing its job the timing may be off which causes poor gas mileage.
