  1. typically shrinking the box will give more control over the subwoofer.. mostly what ive seen is people shrink the boxes to do this..and as far as the cone area>rms it can be very install dependent..in some cases more cone area will gain but too large a woofer crammed into too small a space will be outperformed by small subs
  2. looks like a box for a single cab truck im guessing? specs, tuning,? im just curious
  3. and this isnt to be a douchebag about it at all..just know what youre getting yourself into as far as going this big.. mistakes are gonna happen.. and they can get expensive really fast.. mostly what everyone is trying to say including me is that most people build up to a system of this magnitude..doing when inexperienced ends up disaster alotta times..
  4. and do you have the money to back up the power youre going to want.. and also think about it this way if you dont you could look around at different subs that are cheaper and spend the money you save on power..if you have the money by all means go for it..just know this is gonna require some major investment in electrical
  5. ill second this..tuning too low you lose alot of top end..i tune mosta the boxes i design between 34-37 right around in there
  6. orion makes a good point..u could be louder sealed up..its uncommon but it does happen..how much did u play with ur seats n what not? be surprised what moving ur seat can do n what not
  7. this is to the 209 fella.. FIRST learn how to speak in a manner understandable to others..SECOND.....YOU MAD BRO?!?!
  8. is it safe...probably.. i just wouldnt give that advice to anyone cuz in the back of mind id always wonder if it was too high..not high enough.. gonna depend largely on the headunit how high the gain can go as well along with some other factors..like i said i just dont like that advice
  9. set the gain on the amp where it should be..set everything up normally...then go easy on the volume knob.. set the gain "halfway" is horrible advise. the gain should never be maxed anyways
  10. I really dont think deadener will help, AT ALL. lol deadner only works to a certain point..maybe.. steal plate on door..or concrete? might stop it lol that thing is brutal
  11. post up ur max dimensions and maybe somebody can work a box up for ya.. be the easiest way.. and you can tune as low as you want in all honesty you just typically have to give up port area as your port will simply be too long to accommodate very low tuning.. 34-35 htz can typically play a great range of music with authority
  12. yeah i wasnt sure if he was keeping his parents old house or they were gonna sell and hed be finding his own place.. just wanted to cover that in case he was actually going to find his own apartment..like i said just wasnt sure oh and hamburger helper and giant pots of spaghetti will become your friend lol you can make things in bulk and either freeze them or just eat them as leftovers the next day or something..saves alotta money cause stuff like that can be cheap as hell and beats eating tv dinners n stuff like that all the time lol
  13. best advice i can give you as well is pick where you live wisely.. shop around for apartments/houses and roommates can def help with bills like said before just choose wisely. i moved out for the first when i moved away for college..i spent over a month looking at apartments..we finally found one that was cheap and seemed to have a decent crowd living there..plus all of our utilities were included accept for internet.. also ask about utilities and how much they generally run..some rent houses and apartments are shittly insulated and utilities could eat you alive in a hurry..and youre definitely gonna learn how to bargain shop lol youll learn that a dollar here and a dollar there can add up in a hurry
  14. is there a question or?? just showing off what ya got??
  15. the box is 12 cubes net.... ur looking at gross..maybe u should regroup ur thoughts
  16. you might be a basshead if not wanting to rip apart ur vehicle with bass seems illogical and doesnt make sense ask em if he wants to be an ice skater now
  17. honestly...find one thats closest to you and go to it lol just for the experience mostly mecas big around here..and theyre most based on different metering styles and classifications as to the competitors you will be going up against..just look around and find a rule book for the one you plan to go to and learn the rules and how you will be classed and prepare for it
  18. unless im looking at this wrong..the port is 28 long on the side that is 31 long correct? if so id make so the end of the port is the width of the port away from the back of the box...if that makes sense
  19. alright i was just wondering..and if you were to stick with those dimensions i would go with wat socky said and tuned in the higher 40's...and i would have it loading off of the passenger side wall as that is where those trucks seems to get loudest
  20. are you rebuilding because it gets louder when you open the door or just to try a 4th order out? what vehicle?
  21. It would be a waste to get a sub that can take 3+ thousand watts to only put 1200 through it. You would be better off getting a lesser sub and putting the saved money into other thingd 3000 watts RMS? You'll blow both of those subs at that. AQ is rated at 1k and the fi bl is 1.5k. The hdc3 can take well over 1k clean power daily..... Many variables to that, box design, user's experience, etc. etc. this..even if your throwing clean power at it if youre box design is off than you can still end up blowing the sub
  22. Like what? (I'm new at this stuff.) The 12s have more cone area that's why I said they would be louder in theory yes they would be louder but its application specific on the box and vehicle..like said by rickdod 2 10's can get just as loud in the right application as 2 12's
  23. theres absolutely no gaurantee the 12's will get louder than the 10's...far too many variables to take into account to say that..
  24. if you have a long enough strand of it then yes it will work fine
