  1. I have another question for those that can maybe help. Got my high and mid stage set on a 4x100 channel. Got the undistorted reading from the amp gain about 1/3 turn) at full volume from the head unit(also previously checked for no distortion) . I wanted to turn down the amp sensitivity slightly to match the ac volts / watts for my components. However, the voltage is way over what it should be for the channels. Everything is turned to zero on the HU to get flat signal. For example : used zero db 1k signal test and the voltage is way more then the amp says it produces. Trying to get to about 14.1 volts and the no distortion level is like 24 +-1 volts. Why is this? If a no distortion level on a 100 watt channel is registering 130 to 150 watts. Amp is jl xd400 bottom line: do I go by dd1 or voltometer to adjust for a lower ohm load? Does the dd1 account for when you hook up lower impedance?

  3. Bought a new head unit. Max volume number is 40. The dd1 is showing distortion at 28 through speaker outputs. It doesn't show any distortion through the rca outputs at 40/max (signal is registering). Is this possible (due to the quality of signal, error, other)? Tried switching up jacks as well. Thank you in advance J
  4. I have 4 Srx 12s and it looks like you have them. All the srx line leaves the x off the cone and in the manual that comes with them.
  5. I think the Fosgate series punch 2 dual fours. They are very nice and tough looking ans good for sq imo
  6. Also Edgar, it helps in tuning also because the subs sense/split the volume, but your port will not. It will sense 12 cubes. So in other words, your port can be shorter as well, which is an added benefit of common chambers.
  7. Do I need one in my new 12 Frontier? My manual says not to hook up any aftermarket wires to my ground or it will cause the voltage module to malfunction and the computer won't allow proper charging. Any help because I've never upgraded a newer ride?
  8. Steve, I am getting ready to use the same amp in a crew cab build (12 frontier) and already have a jl xd400 for highs and mids. I am replacing my 500 cp with the 2500. What kind of electrically upgrades did you do with the Lexus? I've done none but wire upgrade with my current setup at 1 ohm and it struggles after 15 secs of sub 50 Hz...
  9. Went to JL dealer nearby today and their rta mike wasn't working right and they were going to charge me anyway to meter it half a$$ so I will wait. The installer gave me a good estimate of what DB area I was in

  11. Change grounds or enlarge ground wire first then power wire thickness. Usually protects due to ohm issue or current flow, I.e. yer +/- r touching or not enough juice flowing. R u in same vehicle as when u used it in the past? Alt may be smaller etc...
  12. Thanks peeps. I want to post my box pic but don't know how yet. Exact is 6.34 tuned to 35ish. Lol. Will try to find a meter Saturday at a shop about 20 mins away from my crib
  13. I would post a pic but am new to forum. 4 re srx 12s in 6 cube add 100 sq of port.1000 w JL amp. Hoping to do all re soon.
  14. I have 4 re 12s in 6 cube with 100" of port tho. Very loud...07 impala.
  15. Ok. I've found the box setup for my budget right now. With most tracks, like Bass Mecaniks latest album, my eardrums hurt and my back doors are flexing out at the top about one inch b/w 20-35 Hz. Just wondering what type of DB range I'm in....in 07 Impala with dynamat extreme on 90% of metal surfaces. Don't have a meter...any ideas ?
  16. Hey yall....didnt introduce myself. But I do everything from the smartphone since my ex took me to the cleaners earlier this year. I'm 37 and prob close to steves gen. Grew up listening and installing for friends since around 89 (pyramid Haha, urban, kicker, pyle, punch, us amps, etc...Had mediocre systems through college and marriage of 13 years to the one...did not continue one of my passions while married, but since....the fire is back and I've done five boxes in the last three months. Found the setup I like for my car..had many systems stolen even in high school was jacked for everything when I paid for it all. Man I cried. But im looking for an suv now of to get some huge numbers...lol. right now my impala with 4 re 12s srx hurts my ears with 100 inches of port..on 1000 watts. It's unbelievable. I discovered steves site the same as an above poster. I was looking at re bass vids on utube one night cuz I was a big fan of us amps back when they were born..in FLA where I hang near daytona. Am a plain clothes po po when I'm not working in the shop....be safe all...
  17. 2 JL audio 12 wxs. Bought them 2 months ago and used them maybe 30 minutes. I am switching to RE due to local distributor. 200 watts per. Very efficient low power. They sound good. $100 for both.
