Was off work Sunday so I came up to the shop just to chill and shoot the shit. I decided to grab a sheet of MDF from Ace and work on the box for the Camaro build. In the process I decided to take some Infinity Comps and a Kicker 8" mid bass and I built a nice little home audio system. I will be putting this in my garage to use while I work outside. Right now I use my car or an old stereo I have. Now I can plug this into to a nice little receiver hook up my iPod and let it play while I work. Let me know what you all think just a little something to do when I had nothing better to do.

I have purchased quite a bit from AudioSavings mostly accessories here and there. I am not one for buying packaged deals as I am an equipment matching whore so I usually match my entire system to one brand or limit myself to specific brands that suite my needs. If I were you I would sit down and calculate a number that will be the max you can justifiably spend on a new system and then I would slowly piece it together by buying items bit by bit. Going balls deep into a new system but saying you have an extremely tight budget should not be in the same sentence. I suggest you figure out what you really need and go from there that would be the best route.

All you had to do was apply the VHT no clear coat or anything else? I may pick up a can and try it out but want to make sure I have everything to get it done right the first time.

Yeah 412 is the shit he designed my SA-8 box and then a DC LV 2 8 box and next he will be doing my ...... box lets see whats about to go down.

What brand comps are you using right now and how many watts rms?

Any reason you aren't doing comps in the back as well? And why not just buy the same brand speakers you bought for the front but as a coaxial.

Spend the $200 and be safe in the end. I am an equipment matching whore because I know if the charger fails and its an XS on an XS I have a reason to be pissed if its chico n 'em's batt max charger and my battery fails on me I can't say ish. With stuff like that I like the piece of mind of knowing it's built to do what it says and it has been tested with the product I am using it for. We have a big ass die hard at the shop and I will put optima's, kinetiks and ACM batts on there but I wouldn't touch my XS (when I get em) with it. Plus the XS is compact as hell and how much do you really save in buying a cheaper one?

Yes, you only need 2 outputs, but you need 6 or more speaker inputs. You need to grab all of the speaker outputs of the BMW amp so that the RCAs give you full range output. So lets say the BMW amplifier has six speaker wires, 2 for tweeters, 2 for mids, and 2 for subs. The DQL-8 takes all 6 speaker wires and sums them and creates a full range output on the TWO RCA jacks. If you use a 2 channel LOC and connect it to only one of those pairs of speaker wires you will only get the frequencies that those speaker wires put out. So if you were to grab the tweeter wires you will only get high frequency range, if you grab the sub wires you will only get the low frequency range. You can't just connect all of the speaker outputs together because that would damage the BMW amp. I hope this makes sense. ^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^

I don't think he can. OP what year make and model is your whip. We have had a few cars where you can't change the stock HU or it is more expensive to change it than anything. One car we did recently was a Taurus I believe so we just relocated the aftermarket HU to the glove compartment and left the stock HU alone.

Love that place swear by them for everything I could possibly get audio related. I wish they carried a few more brands but I order from them at the very least twice a month and I have never had not one issue with them.

Everything they have all said above me except South Beach. I have lived in Miami for 24 years and IMHO South Beach is over glorified and more of a pain to go to than anything else. The only reason to really go is to check out the local talent but if you are going with family steer clear. Plus if you have bass in the ride that is a no no for anything over the bridge the minute they hear bass you get lights. Aside from that every other beach in Florida is free game. EDIT - I forgot to mention the ridiculous traffic and expensive hard to find parking.
