I think im probably worrying about nothing......... I did see up to 220. Ride home is around 45 mins, and its at least 95. The ride is all on freeway, so, the air flow is there most of the time........ (click right on it) Even with the fairly "quick" ride, and such,... i think im tripping about nothing..... With that,..... is there someone that has had a alt take a dump from heat? Ya know? at what point ? what was the deal behind the failure?...... And thanks for listening to me bitch, and moan guys,... Im now thinking i need to shut my head down at times,... and accept what happening... (just hate that sometimes!!) Thanks all..

Well, I actually feel a little dumb complaining about the heat I'm seeing...Lol Good god, I can only imagine what kinda heat your tossing around under that hood of yours dude.... I'll for sure shoot mine right after my ride home from work. It's 45 mins, the outside temp is currently 93. Which is actually on the cool end, compared to the last few. And AC jammin. Also, I kinda wanted to bump this, and see if maybe Mechman (even though it's not one of their units, I hope that don't matter??) wanted to chime in. And also give the day people a shot at maybe tossing In any opinions. I suppose the question is, what to look for, and "about" what temp is the "very uncool" temp? And again, many thanks all... Ky

Would Strapping another 15hun and dropping to 1/2 ohm ask of the electrical as well??, know what I mean? I don't kno exactly the damage. I myself would think about a larger amp, an run the impedance at human levels..... Do I make any sence? (like how I am running now, over power, but 2-4 ohm everywhere I can) But, I feel ya on not wanting supply issues man...(and I respect the shit outta the concern) EDIT- also, i understand your space issue... id like to see you add more "bank" as much as i would like to add more...... Yep, but, it is right by the fan that jumps on at hight temps, the aux fan that kicks on, and off...

speaking of adapters,.. I like Tool makers stuff, and project DB makes insane stuff.......i like their adapters a shit ton.... there are others... others that are just fine..

There are adapters,.. nice adapters made to get your 1/0 to get into a 4g Dude,... I have to know what amp you have?... 2k with a 4g input.... what amp you running my friend? My 1000.4ad that BS at close to 300 per channel has 4g toss ins as well...... just asking is all bud..

I don't think it's hurting it. They are designed to run at that temperature If you really want to help cool it, go to home depot and get some dryer hose. Remove a fog light and pipe the hose up and make it blow on the side/back of the alternator. Add a fan if you want cooling at a stop too since this method only works when driving Good and bad,.. right in front of the elec fan, But,righ next to the exhaust....

Yeah ...i understand that...... This reading was after a 5 minute ride.......... That is my concern....... again,... i will take another reading, after a trip from work, afternoon when the ambient is up and the AC is going nuts,,... all that good stuff... What will happen if i just sit there,.. demo'in for 4 hours, in 99 degrees..... YADDA YADDA...

The output, im not that worried about yet, as, i have seen ZERO fall off, even with heat..... (im not running much, and i prefer overkill on the elect) I have just touched it, and thought... Alright,... we need more info for trouble shooting.... After the ride from work to home tomorrow,....... ill jump out, and beam it.......... Ill post ambient, as well as the alts reading,... and, ill beam some other stuff in the engine bay to get a little bit of a referance....

See, that is my issue... I made the damn mistake of starting to probe the unit (some pun) on a regular basis. And now,... with the ocd kicking in, im really starting to sweat the issue..... Can anyone, anyone shed light? Again, thanks for any help, and any suggestions.........

I have had zero issues,.. but, i was curious whats TOO HOT when it comes to HO alts???? It has to be close to a hun right now,..... i road maybe 11 miles, from pub to home. Jumped out, grabbed my gun, and shot the laser right into the windings. Ambient air like i said is damn near triple, and the rest of the engine bay seemed to be about that temp..... but, the last few days, i guess i have been tripping out. Any opinions???.... and as always, thanks and appreciate any and all info KB
