  1. I know your going to build this system yourself but This is a company that might help you get some Ideas. I was involved in its inception and Paul Yaffe uses there saddle bag lids in a ton of his custom bikes. All of there systems are rated up to 90mph and still audible. Something else to keep in mind is that a motorcycle dosent have an alternator it has a stator and your max amperage is going to be less than 50amps
  2. From a dealer no not common at all. In my experience most hard wires are because of some sort of theft.
  3. AudioControl DQXS might work and can be found for around $500.
  4. A good installer should be able to knock out a basic alarm in less than an hour to 2 hours depending on the car. Add remote start and the type of bypass needed add another hour. Shade tree mechanic probably all day depending on your knowledge of advanced electrical principle ie resistors, relays and diodes. I used to install Viper all the time in early 2000's but the shop where I work now uses Code Alarm. Basic alarm can be installed for $150 full on RS Alarm around 300 depending on the car. Do it yourself and you will save allot of money but you could inherit a ton of problems. now this is obviously biased but I have always felt that an alarm is an advanced install and should be left to the people who do them all the time.
  5. Wouldn't it have to do with potential and trying to maintain the cleanest path for the circuit. Seems to me running the wire is going to show the best performance.
  6. hmm that sucks. well you could pull the case apart and pre drill a couple holes to mount to, as long as your carefull about the clearence and type of screws you use. Another idea would be to use some abs plastic between the radio and eq to prop it up then wrap electrical tape or duct tape around the whole thing to keep it from moving. but that would not be my first choice of action.
  7. After your hole is cut. Get a couple pices of back strap and cut them in half. Using the screws that came with the radio attach 2 straps to each side of the radio with the extra length going up. adjust the eq to where you like it and use the screws that came with the eq to attach the straps where you need them.
  8. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes for my daughter, It is much appreciated. dsmtalonkid from this awesome forum purchased the Term-Lab with the buy it now option on Ebay. My daughter thanks you, my wife thanks you and I thank you. To all the PM's I received with well wishes and offers to buy. I thank each one of you. I have never attempted to sell anything on line ever and was very hesitant about it due to lots of horror stories but there was no other option. and you people made it a heart warming experience Thank you so much!
  9. His first run with no adjustments was a 135 on the window with the door open @ 44Hz, after tuning it with the DD-1 he did the 137.5 again @ 44Hz. I tried moving the Mic to the seat headrest and we tried with the doors sealed and open the only thing I didn't try was the kick which I wish I would have now. Really his main issue is power at this point. don't want to put him on front street but his power wire is horribly small and the stock Alt. is crap. The Alt. issue I think will be fixed rather soon I would think But I was very concerned about his power wire situation to the point I cut the testing a little short because of it. I will say that he is on the right track and was receptive to the advice I gave and let him know that his next metering was on the house.
  10. 100.2 on full, bass boost down, sensitivity down. Sub amp LPF all the way up and everything else down, only use the 40Hz tone.
  11. The radio in-question has an active crossover and 4 sets of RCA's (high, mid, low, sub)the high output is locked at a minimum 1250 it will not go any lower. The manual recomends using the mid RCA if your doing a component set with passive crossover.
  12. Seeing as the output from the RCA's would be the same no-matter which output your using (high, mid, low, sub)set the amp using the mid RCA's then plug the highs back in. Seems like your best bet if you hadent figured it out by now lol.
