  1. Sorry skittles... I agree... You have a fantastic sounding system that gets loud. But it doesn't sound fantastic while it's getting loud. Meaning imaging diminishes, clarity is reduced, etc.. What I was trying to get at is that you can't achieve spl and sq at the same time. Sorry for the confusion.
  2. You can reorganize your runs. Run a run off the alternator. Run a negative run off the run at the frame (that completes the big 3). Bus bars are nice but 6 runs isn't that big of a deal... There's definitely more than one way to go about it.
  3. From what everyone says you can't go wrong with the ctx. Woody... Why dont you get a set of silk domes and some nice crossovers? Mid themselves won't make a system harsh. There's nothing nice about a harsh system. I've got highs that are bright, but I wouldn't be happy about anything harsh.
  4. What you're asking is hard to answer. If you're trying to achieve SQ and SPL, you're trying to achieve something that is impossible to achieve. (SQ = Imaging, clarity, etc, etc) .... You lose all that once you start climbing above 130db. If all you're looking for is to 'hear' your highs in combination with bass, then you can get away with cheap speakers and loud tweeters combined with power. Given what you're asking... I think you'd be making a mistake buying $400 + speakers just to keep up with your bass... Seeing as $125 worth of speakers could have the same output....
  5. You would be absolutly right if you were talking about cars with a high resonant frequency, small cabin and stuff like that, for example, a panda or a CRX, you need to build small boxes with a high tuning, even if you could change ports on the box you build and use it for daily, it´s definitely not the best thing to do since, GENERALLY SPEAKING, small boxes don´t play lows very well. Said that, definitely depends on the car and type of box, my last "burp" box using 2 12´s and 1200 watts in my explorer pulled a legal 148.7 dbs @ 42 hz , the box plays music AWESOME and it´s big as hell, close to 3 cubic feet per 12" sub What was your box tuned to? Awesome numbers BTW... You have definitely provided a ton of Number backed facts in your box thread.
  6. Generally speaking... Daily boxes have a little more volume. A lower tuning frequency, and a lower port area/ cube. If your trying to build a burp box... don't try to play music on it unless the music you're trying to play is within tuning. You'll want to figure out the resonant frequency of your car and tune close to it. I haven't ever built a box for burping, but that's my understanding.
  7. Yup... I like the most current one. Its clear. Nice work.
  8. Lol... I only know a couple systems that could play down this low. I'm on earbuds but I'd say the lowest note is probably below 20 hertz... Wanna speed it up a little? I'm on headphones, ha so yep. I'll speed her up though. And for anyone who's interested, here's my first one :/ Sorry in advance. http://www.mediafire.com/?b4jezf4wcc8t87h I dunno if my ears are playing tricks with me or what... But that song sounds fine up to just under 2 minutes... Then it seems really rough. Like the producers put some bass boost in the song itself. I dunno... Check for yourself. It sounds real choppy. EDIT: Nah... its not my ears... its the song. Play the song @ 1 minute, then jump ahead and play it at 2 minutes. This is on your first version btw... I don't hear it on the original.
  9. Lol... I only know a couple systems that could play down this low. I'm on earbuds but I'd say the lowest note is probably below 20 hertz... Wanna speed it up a little? Tempo maybe like this?
  10. Beats by dre play low... They literally shake on your head. But what is your budget?
  11. If you're going to take the time to glass the seams of the box, you may as well throw a few layers of mat on the seams. While you're doing the next seam, Snip a small piece of mat and throw some resin on it. Give the resin a day to cure and then check out the "Sample" you made. A single layer might give you the seal you're looking for, but I doubt it'll give you the extra reinforcement you were hoping for.
  12. Looks good man. Lets see some more progress! Sealed batteries dont vent gasses.
  13. A wind blowing sound? As in motor noise/ RCA induced noise? Check your ground... Make sure it's tight and not corroded. Where is your amp grounded at? What headunit are you running? Are your Rcas running next to your power wire?
  14. Whats it do with the subs facing the rear? Seems like you have a great score .... But I wonder if it could be better with the box facing the other way... Or even play lower.
  15. I refuse to trust a non sited YouTube source. Give me these facts out of an encyclopedia, .org or .edu site and at that point I will still remain biased as to why were fighting a war that can't be won.
  16. Looks like you got some good flex. What kind of numbers are you putting up?
  17. I wanna help you... But I don't think you are hearing me... Or anyone else. So yeah... Get the 10" infinity, throw it in a sealed box, and be impressed by the fact that you wasted $60 and you cant even hear or feel it.
  18. Neither. I'd go with a 6.5"... I'm my experience most 5.25" speakers have 6.5" mounting rings... Or can be made to fit a 6.5" speaker. If my sPeakers done got blowed like ur speakers Id upgrade dem fuckers. Haha...
  19. I'd go with I/H/E, cam, tune, on the bottle. That alone should get that light ass Crx moving. N/A is the most reliable :-)
  20. You are setting yourself up for failure with that much power and that low of a budget on subs. I can't even name off sub that would be somewhat user friendly with that much power under $100. Edit: unless you aren't using the hifonics amp to power a lower end sub.
