  1. I can't say a lot, because I haven't heard them in a different box. I listen to rap/hip hop and they do well at anything ive tried to play, still get plenty low enough and the higher low notes are intense. My rear view mirror won't stay set with the box in my avatar in a Dakota.
  2. what kind of power do you have running to them? SAX-1200.. I would have went with the 1500 if I had the money at the time.
  3. They'll do good, very similar tuning and volume of a box I have them in.
  4. Most people don't do this to make a lot of money, but for the love of it. Just practice, practice, practice and the money will come. EDIT: Also, Best Buy, etc care about all those certifications, a custom shop may not care at all and just want to see some work.
  5. Isn't doubling your power only a theoretical 3 db gain?
  6. Take a router with flush trim to the port, Is the box rounded over on the front and the back of the port?
  7. Sounds right, cut the X then flip the board over and pull, your glue needs to be very tacky at this point so it will stretch and stick, home depot stuff won't cut it.
  8. Really? Whats your voltage drop at the amp?
  9. I resin the whole thing and use mat in the corners most of the time.
  10. It won't hurt, I think people here prefer coarse threaded, but I don't know that it matters.. Pre-drill if you are splitting wood, 3/4" and up you shouldn't have to if your centered and stay a few inches off the edge.
  11. Bolts or Wire out the port I say on the terminals.. The cheap plastic insert ones like the ones that come on prefab boxes tend to leak air.
  12. I don't think they can handle much more power, they aftermarket deck will distort them long before it reaches its distortion point.
  13. Probably no more than $250, but looking now I do see most of the good brands can high pass at 80hz.. Shows what gets used around here! I swear the motto is overpay for cheap equipment. Trying to change that haha
  14. I bought a truck not to long ago that had 4 JL's in it (don't remember the exact model, but nothing to big..like $150 a pair from sonicelectronix). The problem is that they actually have really good freq. response, they "hit" so low that they distort at fairly low volumes and the highs and mids cant keep up with my subs and defiantly not the subs i'm going to be getting. I don't need them to be hitting 40Hz to 80Hz if my subs are too right? So i'm thinking to fix this I will put them on a 4 channel and either crank up the subsonic filter (it would need to go to maybe around 80hz, anybody know a good 4 channel that has one that high?) or Anybody know a good 4 channel with a HPF that goes down to around 80hz?
  15. What happened with that? Ive sold a few and my cuz does too, I know there is a limit (we havn't crossed). Just wanted to know the ramifications lol

  17. Yep, a lot of people will recommend running 1/0 awg from both the positive and the negative of the batteries. This is what I would do, but I have seen people just ground it in the trunk and works okay. Edit: Don't forget to fuse your positive battery run.
  18. The most basic would be to put a battery in the trunk (or whatever) and hook the two in parrallel. If you havn't upgraded your orginal battery yet then do that, The two batteries should be close to same age and size and defiantly same brand. You will want to start looking at an HO alternator after that.
  19. I recently picked up this at home depot: Ryobi ZRR163K 8.5 Amp 1-1/2 Peak Horsepower Router Not saying its the best, but it has done everything I needed it to with no problem, round overs, rabbits, flush trim, etc. Get at least something that size or bigger and you should be fine.
