  1. ADD FUSE!!!!!! NO FUSE, NO GOOD!!!!!! Do you like to watch cars on fire? I like to, but not mine. Save your car's life and put a fuse as close to the battery 's as possibe. After the front one, and right before the second one. Then when coming off of the second one, put a fuse as close to the battery as possibe going to the amps. And the guy running the 1 8inch l7 did not have a back seat either. Just was saying to do some research for pure spl because bigger is not necessarily better for all out spl.
  2. ok, here you go. I have no clue what the cubic feet of the enclosure was, but I agree with the small enclosure, bigger vent. I saw a crx with a cute little vented enclosure with one 8 inch l7 on 1500 watts positioned in the drivers side, rear corner of the vehicle and did a 150.something. Seriously!!!!!! For raw spl, small enclosure, bit vent will do wonders. I will try and get measurements on 8/2 here in kcks at the next comp. But he did a 150+ with an 8"l7 on 1500 watts in a tiny vented enclosure. Saw it with my own eyes man.
  3. F@CK the back glass!!! Don't get me wrong, but if I did not have a kid, there would be a wall of 15's or 18's in my cute little sunfire!!! LOL!!!! For visual impact, 6 12's. But from what I understand, it is easier to make less subs meter high rather than 16 subs. Don't know details on the application, but seriously, the first chance I get to wall a vehicle, I will, and that shite will be devastating!!!!!! Whether it is 2 18's, or 48 10's.
  4. I still want to come to cali from kcmo and check out the whips mane!! Don't know when the hoopty's dash will be put back together to do demo's and shite, but no joke, I will come out there and book my own hotel for 2 nights and do the dam thang. It's priceless to me to demo the builds you have done. I drove from the lou to kcmo 4 years in a row for the finals, and then moved to kcmo. Isn't there finals in cali near you? Let me know!!! I would rather be able to see the finals there and see the whips all in one trip, cause I'm going to the finals in omaha or cali, or wherever. And an important question for ya. What is the email to paypal to be a supporting member? Is it still the same email?
  5. Very much understood!! I wasn't happy with 500 watts and one 12. Had to upgrade to 2000 watts and 2 15's, and a ho alt, 0 gauge cable, 2nd battery, LOL!!! Now, if he set up the gains wrong, could that be causing distortion before reaching the full potential of the amps? Or am I misunderstood, cause I don't want to point anyone down the wrong road.
  6. ok. I made a big mistake in my opinion by buying a pioneer deck that has low voltage ouput for the rca's. Not saying it is a bad deck, but the more output voltage, the better. But what I did was exactly what it says to do in all jlaudio manuals. I bought their calibration cd straight from their web site, and did exactly what it says in the manual. Turn the volume on head unit to 3/4's with all headunit setting on "0" for lows mids and highs. If your headunit has a dedicated sub out, also turn that to 3/4's. unhook the speaker cables from the amps going to the speakers, and using a digital mulitimeter and the scale found on exposport's signature, set the output voltage to the rms wattage of the speakers, or amplifier(which ever is lowest). The scale is easy to use as long as you know the impedence of your speakers at the amp, which can be found out with the dmm. Once you set your amps using the tracks necessary, reconnect the speaker wires to the amps, and just go up to 3/4 volume, maybe slightly higher, but that's it. You can look at the process on jl's web site in their manuals. My hu only runs 2v outputs, and I don't have any issues with sound quality. Then again, I also have not had a 4v output before on any of my hu's. From what I understand, and someone correct me if I am wrong, that is the 2nd best way to set the amps up. The first is an o-scope, and I don't have one, nor know how to use one. Again, happy gain setting!!!
  7. nice!! better than what I can do!! Mine is cute compared to that. Too bad I can't fit 15's vented. But anyways, very nice!!! Keep it up!!
  8. in fact, there is a guy on here that has a very good deal for the smd forum people. Post a new topic with the title "powermaster d3100's" and then for the description put "looking for best deal." I gaurantee you will find the guy or someone here knows him. He lowered his prices to beat the lowest out there.
  9. did not go to advanced today, but will do soon, and will post and let all know what happened.
  10. Seriously!!! You need to pm missing link audio about this. They have their own section here in the forum. They are phenominal when it comes to electrical. They probably are not awake yet, but pm them about the whole thing, and be patient. They will hit you back same day on the pm and it will be a very experienced, very mathmatical, and very precise explanation of your needs. They are awesome. You need to contact them. Don't get me wrong, many people on here can give you great advice, and I will not knock anyone on here, but missing link does electrical for a living. Hit them up!!!! And their modules do wonders. Just an fyi on the module. And the hc 2400's are kick arse, and I can't knock powermaster d3100's. Meade uses them for a reason.
  11. wow. I will probably go to advanced today. I have a buddy that works there, and I will have him run tests whatever way I ask. I will post about it. Thx though, about autozone.
  12. I read this before on *** I believe. Good info. But I thought there was more to this post though. Cause he only explains one way to test it. It does not include the second. I could have sworn I read more on this, but I might be mistaken. Question though, now, if I went to advanced and had them put the inductive pickup on the output of the alt rather than the negative battery post, and when told to add load to the "system", I burped the system for the desired length of time for their test, wouldn't that give a reading of the output of the alt? and also the same at 2000 rpm? Even if it takes a couple of seconds for my regulator to "catch up", wouldn't it show the amperage from the alt as long as I kept the load on the alt long enough for the regulator to react to the load?
  13. bump for the question 2 or 3 posts above.
  14. from what I understand, and someone correct me if I am wrong, but eagles, hotel california, is good sq song. The first three drum strikes are three different frequencies. With a good sq system, you should be able to hear the difference in all three notes. That is what I was told. Have not tested it out on my system and I was told my setup is much more for sq than spl and I agree. My shite is sooo accurate, even with a double bass in some heavy metal, it is crisp and sooo punchy!!! Try out eagles. And someone steer him in the right direction if I am not!!!
  15. where is the mic? is it totally outside the vehicle? and if so, how far away at what height? I know it is at the b-pillar, but details please!!! I only do a 146.3 at 64hz in the kick panels with 2 15's in sealed enclosures.
  16. Im not aloud to have any!! Oh well. Sorry for your loss, but nice piece to replace it with!!
  17. from what I understand, and please, someone correct me if I am wrong!!! kinetik says to add total batt model numbers to equal total number of watts plus 1000 if you are not changing your batt up front, and plus 500 if you are changing your batt up front. so if you are running total of 8000 watts, you would need at least 3 hc2400's in back and an hc1200 at least up front. same goes with the powermasters. from what i understand. seriously, add more batts than just the 600's. it will be more than worth the money!!!
  18. If I wanted to come see the caddy, could I? I live in kansas city, mo and would have to get permission ahead of time from my p.o. but would do it to come all the way there to see the hoe, civic, and caddy. If I aranged it a month ahead, would you mind? I would stay at a hotel and all. I am dead serious!! I have been on this site for a year almost, and I have been dying to get a demo of your vehicles. But anyways, holla. Let me know.
  19. honestly, I would love to burp my 15's with 3000 watts. Just let me know. pm me if you can get rid of two. thx!!!
