  1. what the hell kinda wood is that? looks like an old coffe table or something...
  2. i will be there saturday and sunday...not competing, just as a spectator. the car show itself (aside from the audio comp) is pretty damn sick.
  3. and polyfill gives the sub the sense of actually being in a bigger box? with the polyfill added, what is the 'theorhetical' size of each enclosure?
  4. nice. couple of questions...are u using 10" subs, how many cubes per sub do u have, and is it straight mdf, or a combo of mdf and fiberglass for the enclosure? i am gonna be doing an install on the same truck basically, a brand new z71, and am just wanting to get some ideas.
  5. im sure there were some pretty sweet discounts in there due to some sort of sponsorship, but steve is a hard working man plain and simple. plus now he has got some box building and apparel hustlin going on the side... ...oh, and why couldnt u get a job, it isnt that hard??
  6. same brands wouldnt hurt things. people say that if u have different batteries with different capabilities then the weaker one might eventually drain the stronger one, but i wouldnt hesitate to run two different batts. as far as fusing, some people dont fuse at all, although i wouldnt recommend that unless u are aware of the risks and are trying to get that extra .1db for comps or something. i always fuse. u need to fuse the positive run withing 12"-18" of the first battery and the same from the second battery to the amp (unless the back batt to the amp is a short run). there is no need for isolators really, dont worry about them.
  7. there is no way he could show every fuse, run of wire, rca, realy and fuse he has got, that would cloud everything up in the diagram...
  8. that is nice man!! i have been wanting to mess with some atomic subs forever...let us know how it sounds. is it for daily or strictly spl?
  9. yea, that is sweet...has it gotten any ink in any magazine, cause it deserves it. i like the license plate too...lol
  10. damn...didnt realize you ran 10 tweeters... ...and i think Cool is saying that your batts arent connected to your amps in the diagram...but that should be understood to everyone.
  11. i this site also...and im ready for the shirts to get here... :w00t:
  12. no..i was saying if he is tuned to the mid to high 30s he could probably pick up the low notes for daily cause of all that wattage...
  13. idk...i think steve had like around 4000watts to each mt when they were in the tahoe. i think the civic metered around a mid 150 if i remember correctly. but for comps i would tune higher than 43...and maybe mid to high 30's for daily...with that much power you should be able to pick the lows up
  14. maybe u could do swappable ports, like steve. thats what i did...
  15. i used to use liquid nail and switched to titebond (titebond 3). the liquid nails is awesome, but it is so damn messy and only provides surface adhesion. wood glue actually bonds the wood together and is a lot less messy. for mdf wood glue > liquid nails...as far as gorilla glue...idk
  16. would woven tinsel leads prevent them slappin the spider? maybe they should incorporate that into their design in the future...??
  17. damn that sucks!! and im sure you definately didnt expect that one...hopefully u just got a faulty sub or something...
  18. that is just sick...and i love the plain dust caps, it really gives it that HT feel to things.
  19. i get that...but it seems to me that the meters themselves should act as a voltage meter, and just display whatever the actual voltage is
  20. i got the stinger blue ones too. i just mounted mine under my headunit with a hidden switch to turn it on and off . nothing fancy, but it looks cool. the only thing i dont like about them, is that you can adjust what voltage it reads, which makes it almost pointless IMO.
  21. Fb = .159*((Av(1.84*10^8)/(Vb(Lv+.823*Av^.5))^.5 Fb = tuning frequency Av = vent area Vb = net volume in cubic inches Lv = effective length of vent effective length = physical length + end correction <---1/2 of the ports width
  22. i was just saying that tuning it at 32 doesnt mean you will peak at 32 on the meter. but a low tuning like that should allow you to pick up most low notes. i think im tuned to like 32 or 34 and i pick up some hella lows. as far as setting the gains, check out the sticky in the sub section about it...
