  1. Thanks for the info but what exactly do you mean peaky??? and most of my friends do listen to a lot of rap and hip hop. I know what you mean about the enclosure too. Here where I live, kicker L7's are cream of the crop ( if you don't have them you're not cool ) and Ive heard some in pre fab boxes that sound real crappy and Ive also heard some in properly designed boxes that make them sound pretty damn loud and get low as hell. I like the subs but for like 350 a piece for 15's ( local shop price ) I could get a FI BL or a nice sundown or something. Peaky as in....some frequencies will be louder than others. If you played a sweep, it would get louder at some point. 99.99999% of all sub setups have a peak, so it's not a bad thing, but if you're looking for smoothness then the HDC ain't for you. It's not a bad subwoofer at all. It's actually very good at what it does (which is getting LOUD). I didn't like the way they sounded but that's just me. Cuz they get fucking LOUD. We never metered the setup but they made it hard to breathe on just an AP1500d. They were tuned to 36 and peaked hard as hell (output dropped dramatically at about 32hz and under). I'm sure we could've rebuilt the box to make it smoother but there was no need, they were loud and the owner was happy. EDIT: Oh and purplesyrup don't let burp scores give you a boner. Like the guy above me said one SA-8 has hit a 50 before but would you buy one and expect to do 45's on music? Nope. You're looking for daily performance so don't get sucked into burp numbers.
  2. I have heard a pair of HDC 15's and they're loud, peaky, close your throat up subs. If you listen to a lot of rap they can make you smile. If you want detailed, warm, smooth, then these are not the sub for you. Oh and before people say they don't or do get low, they'll play whatever frequency the box allows them to. Tune it low and it will murder lows (but people tend to say that you can tune them around 38 and somehow be loud in the high 20's. I doubt that seriously).
  3. Be wary of high mileage WRX's. The trannies start to quit around ~120k. Just an FYI
  4. Doubling power can have "meh" results in my experience. Then you have to upgrade your electrical and all that shit.... Whereas getting more woofers or a new box...now that shit'll make your day better.
  5. BUMP! Show me some interest and I might be able to make you a deal!
  6. Buyer backed out due to a miscommunication, but I've decided to keep the Damplifier. Let's get this amp sold!
  7. Mine (also a Kenwood, KDC-X794) was like that when I had all three amps on it (2 AQ 4x90 and AP 1800). IT would come on in this order: Rear 4 channel, Front 4 channel, Mono and turn off in the same order. When I took the rear 4 channel off the hu remote and added a switch to turn it on (from a different power source) that problem went away. Try to see if there's a stock ignition hot wire you could temporarily tap into and see if anything changes.
  8. Had a vehicular emergency and need to sell some things that are sitting around. First I have an Audiopipe AQX-1800d in GREAT condition. I paid 226 and you can get it for 160+ shipping to your door. It will ship in the original box with both the bass knob and knob cable. It has a tiny scuff on the silver pipe on the top of the amp but is flawless other than that. It's the best amp I've ever owned and withstood the hottest summer in Central Texas history without protecting once. It beat the hell out of my Sundown SA-12's. Pics of the scuff Bass Knob Everything Second I have a 32sqft pack of B-Stock Secondskin Damplifier. I will not be using it so it's for sale. Decided to keep If you need more pics of anything you can let me know. Everything is priced to sell fast and I need money ASAP! You can PM me or text (254)-498-0661 for a faster response. Would like to sell before July 6th (next Friday). Thanks!
  9. Like I said...you could be like Dirk and put your heart and soul into something you love dearest and MAYBE get one. You could end up like Barkley or Stockton/Malone or Ewing or Miller and get none. Times have changed because more now than ever people are starting to realize that you can study hard, work hard, do everything right and STILL end up with nothing. Why not try to guarantee success any way you can? Yes, Cleveland made the Eastern Conference Finals and even the NBA Finals but it took 7 years. Who was his help in Cleveland? (Lol Gibson? Williams? Jamison? Hell no, they aren't winners) I don't disagree at all with what Lebron did. Nobody wants to be the guy that never got a ring. That automatically removes you from the Great category regardless of your talent. Oh and to the guy that says "super teams" make basketball lame...well uh...tell that to OKC or Memphis or Denver. As much as I think Lebron deserved the championship I think the OKC organization did an EXCELLENT job of building a team. Shit, they RAN through the West like no other and will come back strong next year, provided that they stay healthy. Did LA cheat when they had Shaq AND Kobe? Did San Antonio cheat for having Robinson AND West? I guess Magic, Worthy, and Kareem should have all been on separate teams just so things would be fair?
  10. 98 XLT, 4.0 SOHC 2wd with only 126,XXX. Yeah I got the puny version lol. I love it though, it's been through hell and sat a lot but it goes and goes and goes lol. I don't think I'll ever find a SUV with the visibility and comfort that the Ex has. Every other truck I've driven seems like they designed it for you not to be able to see anything out of. The SOHC is a BITCH to work on though. If it ever goes out I'm finding a 4.6 for the cheap. I have heard bad things about the SOHC, but I also heard they make good power, and some go forever. Have you had any problems with the timing chain cassette rattle? I hear it's pretty common thing. I do agree with the visibility, I have been in many other SUV's, and trucks, and the blind spots are horrible. Motor was replaced/timing chain tensioners (that's what they call them now) were updated at 76k. Hopefully I never hear that damn clicking nosie again.

  12. Damn we threadjacked like a mofo. Sorry op...I've never used a Cadence amp...
  13. The KCA kit is Copper clad Aluminum. The Kolossus Flex kit is OFC. The KCA won't carry as much current as the Kolo but it's bigger (because aluminum is not as conductive as copper and has to be bigger to carry the same current). It's VERY flexible still and will carry the rated 250 amps just fine. CCA (copper clad aluminum) is cheaper than OFC (oxygen free copper). I'm using the 4 gauge now and it's just as flexible as the 4 gauge Kolossus but it is clearly bigger which sucks because I had to trim it to fit into 4 gauge amp terminals. It fit ring terminals fine though. I don't see why the 0 gauge would be different. It's all good man, use what works best for you. The Stinger HPM 0 gauge that I used was just SOOO much smaller than the Knu it wasn't even funny. Lots of jacket.
  14. Wellllll I don't have a step bit/unibit so I tried with the hole saw first and failed miserably. Then I did like suggested above and started smaller and just got a little bigger each time. Basically...don't just grab the 1" drill bit and try to go to town. Unless you find a way to get a drill press in your Ex, a bigger bit will just slide around and make you angry. ok, that make sense, thanks for the tip. I hate those hole saws anyway, my dad had a very bad experience with one once. I am glad I asked here, instead of somewhere else, or my local shop, I for sure would not of gotten this good advice. Hole saws are AWESOME for wood. I have a big ol one that is adjustable and makes perfect circles. But...they suck ass for cutting through metal. Just take your time. Oh and NP. I like to help people with the same car as me. They're very sound system-friendly lol.
  15. you know what, maybe thats what it was Knu, saw a link here on the site, been out of this stuff for a while and have just always used stinger from back in the day. do you have a site for them? EDIT: nvm, got the site. Any you say go with them over stinger? Yes. The Stinger HPM just does not compare with Knu. It's flat out bigger (the KnuKonceptz is). I can't think of a reason why the Pro or Level 2 (the red stuff) wire they have would be bigger than the HPM, being that the HPM costs more. Knu has great CS and fast shipping so...I don't see a reason not to buy from them.

  17. Knu for wire IMO. If you're on a budget and HAVE to have OFC then welding wire is ok. Stinger's stuff is small compared to Rockord/Kicker/Knu and costs just as much.
  18. I was already thinking about those spots on the truck, but I want to go directly to the actual frame on the truck. I want to have a solid ground that won't be in the way. Ah ok. I don't know of any spot that even 4 gauge would fit through. I have used both of the above grounds with success though. You could always drill a hole and use a grommet like http://www.sonicelec...ac=1&zmap=46313 that. I didn't know a grommet like that existed. It seems simple, but to be honest drilling a hole in my floor always freaks me out, it just leaves a spot for water, and other stuff to go it, that is why it is pretty much my last option. I appreciate the ideas, I checked out Sonic and they even have a 4 gauge one. I might do that but still searching for something with less hole drilling. Bring some extra drill bits and lots of patience. It will take time.

  20. In the cargo area on my 98 there are hooks with bolts in them in/under the carpet. Just take the hook out, sand the paint away and bolt the ring terminals down with it. Also, Idk if you have the spring loaded flap thing behind the second row seats, but the bolts for that go into a good spot for a ground. EDIT: I can take pics tomorrow if you need.
  21. This. He gave them seven years to build a team around him and they didn't. He put them on his shoulders and carried them all the way to the Finals but he just couldn't do it by himself. Lebron WAS the Cleveland Cavaliers. They had a chance to trade him but they didn't so he walked. Jordan on the other hand...they built a team around him and gave him plenty to work with. All the years he tried to carry them to a championship by himself he failed. When they put a good squad around him they won it. Think about it...how many championships is Jordan famous for winning on his own...none. EDIT: Think about it...Jordan and Pippen, Magic, Worthy, and Kareem, Shaq and Kobe, Shaq and Wade, Stockton and Malone (even though they never won one), The Big 3 in Boston, and later on Kobe, Bynum and Gasol. The list goes on. GREAT teams don't have one guy. I'd rather see Lebron go somewhere else and get a ring or two than suffer the fate that Dirk has (try and try and try and try and try with no help). That'd be a HUGE waste of talent.
  22. Kids are bastards.....but shit don't just lay down and let them walk all over you. But really tho, you can't hit a kid, you can't tell them that they're not smart, you can't do ANYTHING that MIGHT damage their self esteem. I mean damn, call a kid gay and he kills himself. Call a girl ugly and she hangs herself. Call a kid stupid and he drowns himself cuz he doesn't want to disappoint his dad. We made them sensitive. Kids nowadays are fucked up cuz we tried to make it so easy for them. EDIT: I bet that if she went off on them and one of them committed suicide, people would be like "She should know how to ignore kids!!!!"

    No fuses?

What exactly is so bad bout caps? It's useless....it discharges almost instantly and then the alt has to charge it again. Rinse and repeat. It's a load on the alt more often than it helps. And there is NO "internal fuse" on an AQ2200. Fuck the manual!
  24. The important thing is...don't expect a huge difference in volume. You very well may notice a difference but it won't be like night and day.
