  1. how much power will each run of wire see? 16 will work fine for most applications, 12 is what most of the guys use.
  2. 1/4" plexi cover for the screen FTW! Maybe you can make one for the replacement in case this happens again..
  3. I use tooling or molding resin from my local boat supply place, the cheaper home depot stuff warps...
  4. by looking at the phase plug , it looks like it is the older CD1 compression driver
  5. I remember reading that David Navone while writing the IASCA install rules a while back came up with the 18" rule for no crazy technical reason at all. The rule is still active today, and everyone does it just to not get docked on install points.... I couldnt find the article that I read regarding why he wrote the rule, but i did find this one on him advising us to fuse within 18" from the battery. http://www.monstercable.com/mpc/stable/tec...ower_Wiring.pdf
  6. Image Dynamics, Seas , Morel , Focal , Peerless , Hybrid Audio Tech , Dynaudio , Scanspeak . Look around , speakers are very important so choose them wisely!
  7. Image Dynamics Q1200.1 makes 1500rms easy
  8. So im assuming that the setting your talking about is the low pass filter, If you are using the crossover that came with the speakers I would just let it handle all the crossover points and slopes. Leave the amp setting at 50hz so you are giving the set as close to a full range signal as possible.
  9. Not too many companies make high end coaxial speakers , the closest thing that i have seen are the image dynamics cx mids that have a removable phase plug that can be replaced with a tweeter. I have always had good results with keeping all my drivers as far from me as possible as well as having them as physically equally distanced from my ears as possible. The closer the mid and the tweet are the better, I have always had weird phasing issues when moving the tweeters too far from the mid. However I have heard a bunch of cars with tweeters in their A pillars that sound very good with the help of signal delay. Here are the ID mids http://www.woofersetc.com/p3945/CXS64--Ima...nent-System.htm Here is a pretty informative write up on imaging that helped me understand some key basics http://www.usdaudio.com/tutorials/imaging.php
  10. From the diagram I looked up your car has two accessory wires, are both of them tapped into? Thats my only guess, I dont have very much experience installing alarms in american cars. Who did the install?
  11. for under 400$ you could go with the image dynamics CX64s http://www.woofersetc.com/p3945/CXS64--Ima...nent-System.htm or for a little more you can go with the ones i have (well have the mid only, using horns) http://www.woofersetc.com/p5712/XS65--Imag...nent-System.htm edit: woofersetc is an authorized dealer
  12. I might swing by in my new car to check it out and ....spectate
  13. secure that battery and fuse holder in the trunk so its not just sitting there waiting to short out!
  14. wow you have a ton of space in the back! Most of us use 3/4" MDF for building our boxes.
  15. what kind of box do you have the sub in? Post up some pics man, congrats on your first system!
  16. SQ does not just mean "loud and clear" there are many factors that determine how a certain driver will sound such as the drivers fs or its on axis / off axis response. Of course all of this goes to waste if the enclosure the driver is in is poorly designed, constructed and placed. The differences in high end and low end speakers are definitely there, however it takes a solid install to really appreciate them.
  17. the IASCA sq disc is an amazing resource to have when tuning a REAL sq setup, not just a setup with aftermarket speakers with the subs turned down....
  18. Set the gains correctly, use your brain when controlling the volume and you will be fine, with box rise the sub wont be seeing all 8krms anyways.
