  1. Does the distortion detect light on the DD-1 only work for the 40 & 1khz tracks? Or will it light up with distortion at any frequency and just leave the two test frequency detect lights unlit?

I think it only works with 40 and 1 khz. They don't supply other frequency tones on the disc because of that. The AMM1 on the other hand detects distortion up to 20 khz I think.

The amplifier in question should distort at relatively the same voltage across most bass frequencies.  Thats how the OM-1 works.

You can test this.  Set your amp to just under clipping with the D'Amore track and DD1.  Measure the voltage with a DMM.

Next, get a set of test tones in the range you are interested in.  Play a 40Hz tone from that set and adjust the bass knob to match the previous voltage.  Now play all the tones you want and read the voltage.

it will light up with any kind of distortion so I'd say yea, you just need a quality track that you know the loudness of. had a buddy who had amps that would continuously distort if the 2 amps he had were strapped even with out music playing
