i once set one up for demo in a shop hooked up to a early 80's delco tape deck. we used 2 small amps and some factory speakers from a newer dodge. the sound quality and power diference was outstanding for starting with a "paper weight"

wel if you re weld the perches on the bottom of the axels and remount it should drop about 7 inches

i did an overload flip on the leafs of a 75 gmc once and it dropped the rear 4 inches without comprimising the ride dont knoe if this works on the taco. cant you use blocks

it has nothing to do with the size of the driver to "play" the songs it is all ac motion what songs sound better are determined by the box desing port tuning etc

if you want to "break them in" what i would do is get a bass cd with all the tones and play it over and over again stepping up the volume one incriment at a time until the speaker was moving like hell. boring but has been effective in my book for speaker longevity

that price is more than adequate if you think about the time invested and materials. dont forget the shops liability for any leak after. 50 to 75 per hour labor etc etc etc. but that is why if you are confident then DIY if not pay some one for their skills.

11 ply baltic birch is about 30% lighter than its mdf counterpart, cheap domestic birch veneer is lighter but i would not sacrifice the quality to save another 5%
