  2. so as the title says what are some possible ideas for a 2000$ system. i already have high output alternator 320amp and big 3 so just looking for battery upgrade options amps and subs oh i almost forgot also take into account ill be having a box built for it, so that will account for like 300 of it haha
  3. Sup guys, First off, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum section. I couldn't decide where it fit best, but I knew it wasn't SQ or Ground pounders so here's the deal: My friend is going to be getting his car soon. He does have a job, so I don't have to scamper around looking for crap equipment, but I'm still on an ultra tight budget. Basically I'm looking for equipment that is from good companies but that won't break the bank. Here's what I'm thinking so far: Sub: 1 12" C2 Audio Threatcon 2 (the one with minor cosmetic flaws is 110 dollars) Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-150MP (65 bucks) wire: Knu 4 gauge wiring kit (27 dollars) and 6 ft of knu 8 gauge (3 dollars) with a knu 1x4-2x8 distribution block (10 dollars) The part I've been having trouble with are door speakers and an amp. Since the budget is so limited, we are focusing on the front-stage only. His brother has a cadence 5 channel amp laying around that we will use to power whatever door speakers (hence the distribution block) but I think it'd be best to use a seperate amp for the sub itself. As far as speakers I've seen, RE makes some decent looking cheap components / coaxials, and Cadence makes some that look ok too. What else looks good? I don't want to spend more than 70 for a pair. As far as amps, I've looked at a couple. The alpine mrp m500 does 500rms into 2 ohms. You can get it for about 125 on amazon. The other one that I like is the Sony XM-ZZr3301. I would usually avoid sony at all costs, but this one is Cea certified so it should do the 600rms into 2 ohms that it is rated for. It's 100 bucks on sonicelectronix. So what do you guys think? What would be some other good options? I don't want to spend more than 125 for the amp, and I'd like it to be in that 500-700 watt range. Thanks alot!
  4. Introduction: I have purchased a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe and would like to lay out a plan as to how I am going to upgrade it. I plan to make two main changes, those being: blacked out interior/exterior and a high quality audio system. This topic is going to focus around upgrading the audio aspect of the Tahoe. I wanted to gather advice from more experienced users in car audio before getting started so that I could create an effective and efficient plan as to how I am going to upgrade the audio in my new vehicle. Vehicle Information: The vehicle I am going to be working on is a brand new 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe LT with four wheel drive. As far as audio related components are concerned, this particular trim comes with the upgraded Bose nine speaker surround sound system. The stereo that comes with this Tahoe is quite average and is not of exceedingly high quality. The Tahoe also has plenty of space to install a subwoofer(s), so space is not going to be a problem. Initial Plan: My initial plan for the audio system in this vehicle is to keep the Bose nine speaker surround system (I know these may not be of the highest quality, but replacing all of those speakers would be quite expensive and I don't think I could justify the money spent), upgrade the stock stereo (looking for a stereo that is a bit more advanced), and install and subwoofer or two. While I do have a base plan established, I still have many questions as to how I should approach these upgrades. For those who are interested my budget is anywhere from $1000 - $2000 for just the new audio system. Specifics: Music is very important to me and because of the amount of time I put into listening to music and organizing it, I have become quite the audiophile. I listen to a lot of older music, mostly rock, metal, blues, folk, and other genres similar to those. One of my main question's is what audio equipment I should get if I am listening to music like I have listed above. This primarily relates to the subwoofer, as it seems to be the piece of hardware that will greatly effect the sound of my music. I heard that 10" subwoofers are best for rock music, so my plan was to buy two 10" subwoofers and put them in a sealed enclosure so that I would produce more of a accurate and clean bass sound. Please remember that I am aiming for sound quality, volume is also important, but I am much more focused on putting together a system that is based around sound quality. Is two 10" subwoofers too much bass for sound quality setups? Should I only go with one 10" subwoofer? I also need more information as to what brand subwoofer, subwoofer enclosure, and amplifer I should get. I heard JL Audio is quite good, but I am not that familiar with car audio so I need some more feedback. As far as upgrading the stereo, I just want one that functions well and will work with my iPod that has lossless audio files (FLAC and ALAC) loaded onto it. I believe that encompasses most of what I want to do to the Tahoe as far as the audio system in concerned.   5. So my 16th birthday is in 4 months. My car is an 06 Toyota Camry (clean and almost new!) My dilemma is that I want to find the best pair of 15 inch subs to install for under $300 and I'm deciding whether to put two Alpine type type r 15's or two Kicker L3 15's. I'm planning to wire the Alpines to a Hifonics BRZ1700.1D and then if I get the kickers I would wire them to a Hifonics 1400 watt amp instead. Any suggestions? P.S. I'm installing my whole system myself, so any suggestions for good wiring kits and etc are appreciated.
  6. So im going making a floor for my trunk but I want to make so i can install my 2 subs, amp and capacitor into it and put some plexi glass over the amp and capacitor with a led strip. The only problem I have is how exactly would i be able to brace and hold the underneath of the floor with equipment in it etc while having a suitable air flow and quality design. I have a 2005 mazda 3 hatchack and i will be taking out the spare tire and plastic trays in the trunk so its bare and allowing me the most space to utitlize for making a floor.

  8. hey everyone, here is my project: I am getting ready to rear link setup and lower bag mounts. is a good little daily driver right now. for my system I currently have the following: power acoustic pd-740nb touch screen kicker 4" 2-way mids and 2" tweeters in the dash crossfire cfa142 running the mids/tweets 2- 10" coustic dvc subwoofers in a 3 cubic foot slot ported box tuned at 32 hertz hifonics brutus 1200.1 running at 1ohm to the subs 4 gauge power and grounds, 8 gauge speaker wires I have to do my big 3, get 0guage power and grounds and a high output alt as well as sound deaden the cab. System hits hard and loud for 10's. Thats all for tonight, will post more on it at a later date

  11. Ok so i have 4 Obsidian Audio 18's all Dual 4 ohms. Had 2 Planet Audio BB2400.1 hooked up to them strapped at 2 ohms. I want to go with 2 Crescendo Audio BC2200. I dont have electrical to run at .5 ohm. I have mechman 200 amp alt and 2 xs d3100 in back. i would like to go with 1 big amp but most amps are better at 1 ohm or lower. any suggestions?

I've got a system in my 05 Ford Taurus, and for the longest time I've had an issue with my blower in my AC dropping down with RPMs. When I give it some gas, the blower would kick up how it should be. I just had my HIDs go out, and replaced them with normal Halogen headlights. I am not having the same problem with my headlights. When the Rpms, drop they dim, and when they go up, the brighten. The HIDs, had ballast with them and I never had a problem with them. They do not flicker when the bass hits, only dim when RPMs drop. Currently, I am looking at either a better battery, a second battery, or LEDs with ballasts. Would any of these fix this? Here is what I have. I'm thinking of buying a subwoofer rockford P3SD2-12 or 12TW3-D4 jlaudio with an amplifier rockford T500x1br you who recommended me for not sacrificing much space in my trunk?
  15. Hi, I was wondering if I need to upgrade my alternator or if I should upgrade anything at all. I have a 98 Chrysler Concorde with a stock 130 amp alt. I just purchased a T1500-1BDCP and am planning on running it at 4 ohms for now (1100 watts), but will want to switch it to 1 ohm later on. At 4 ohms, it will draw about 1276 watts or 88.6 amps (86.2% efficiency). But at 1 ohm, it will draw about 2857 watts or about it's fuse rating, 200 amps. I have Kicker 0 AWG for power wire but everything else is stock. Also a Rockford 1 farad cap I got along with the Kicker wiring. My question is, would running 200 amps on a 130 amp alt be bad? I listen to my music loud consistently. Thanks for any input, all help is appreciated!

Hello everyone new to the forum want to get peoples opinion on some brands and sizes I am looking into doing I first big build but aren't sure which route to go and wanted some help (if you don't mind). I currently am running 2 Orion 12.4 @ 2 ohms two hifonics brx 2400 and kinetic 2400. what I want to do is go bigger and louder im looking in to Fi sp4s and also sundown caught my eye. is anyone familiar with any of these brands??? Size either 2 18's 4 15's (setup don't know yet) the base is a 2008 jeep commander with the third row pulled out and the center seat on the second row also pulled out.
  18. My system: all stock electrical. Walmart brand battery, think it's about 775 cca not sure. Hifonics Brutus Brz 2016.1d 2000 watt rms stable and wired at 1 ohm. Roughly 5.7 cu ft {gross} 4.3 {net} ported sub up/ port back enclosure. port is 4" wide 13.5 tall 28" long after cabin gain I think she's tuned to around 34 hz. 2) Skar Audio EVL 12's dual 4's. So my subs are displaced, not side by side, but like -- _ ... I'm concerned that the placement of the subs vs. where the subs are/ or box size or port size is maybe making one of my subs bottom out? I'm just looking for tips and tricks with my setup. Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm running 2 strands of 4 gauge power and 2 gauge ground btw. What can I do to make this thing a ground pounder?? Not so worried about metering, just wanna be heard and shake everything up. Shes loud but I feel like there's room for improvements with what I've got . Thanks guys

  20. will probably get a lot of asshole comments, but what the hell... how does one go about getting sponsored for discounted parts and stuff? not all of us have our own shops, or live in a town where car audio is top of the line. i cant go into a store here without being bullshitted around and told ridiculous prices for bogus equipment. they think that just because they have a shop that no one else knows anything about stereo equipment.

  22. I've had this thought in the back of my mind for quite some time. After talking to a couple of buddies at work, they convinced me that it would be worth it and to go for it. As I have never dabbled in the car audio world much, I am not sure as to what would suit me best. My budget is around $500, and am trying to get the best thump and quality for my buck. I have watched videos and you see walled systems do tricks, systems in most SUV's do them, but hardly in cars. Vibration or air movement? Lastly, are black chicks scared to do a hair tricks? I don't go to enough shows to know.
  24. Hey so I've only been having this issue since I switched out my subs and amplifier from a kenwood excelon set up to the rockford amp and subs. Whats happening is the amp BANGS all day no matter what at the lows but the moment it gets to a higher frequency seems like a punchier frequency (I wish i Knew what frequency it was but i Just know its not the low end probably way closer to 80hz), it goes into PROTECTION mode. I thought at first it wasn't getting enough voltage and my battery tested at 50% cause i do have a battery tester at our shop, so I changed my battery today and I'm still having the same issue. I know its not my wiring because i had no problems with others amps and subs ect. Rockfords support tech keeps saying its clipping at this certain frequency, which I'm not eliminating yet, but the thing is I have my gain set to just under 7, and it was still doing the same thing even when i had the gain set to under 5. and it doesnt hit nearly as hard as it should be unless i turn the gain closer to over half. I just want to know what i can eliminate and what i should try if you guys are familiar with this issue. If my amp is clipping why wouldnt it be clipping on the lows and only does it on the highs? Another thing is it hardly does it when I'm parked, mailny does it when I'm driving which is really irritating because I want it when I'm driving I could care less about being parked as this is just my daily driver. Any advice would help. The other 3 installers at my shop said battery and rockford only said clipping.. I also tested my alternator with our snap on tester and it also tested good. All that rockford said was too turn down the gain but I know those subs can handle what I'm giving them at least I would think..
