thanks chewie,

what do you think about this?

https://www.studioelectronics.biz/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1725

from what i was able to find from Sam Young's website, the Capacitance Tolerance of my cap is +30%/-30%

while this one i could find is +20%/-20%

how important is Capacitance Tolerance?

I dont like the leads on it, but it would probably work fine. Tighter tolerances are a plus.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

am I the only one who see's a burnt board?

its refurb if that makes a difference. the amplifier worked perfectly fine 10 minutes prior to me moving the amplifier. maybe youre correct, it made me wonder. i hope not.

those "burns" at the foot of of the coil are soldering flux.

i ordered the replacement cap, now my only problem is how do i go about disassembling the board? i got all basic screws out and whatnot, and it seems as though the board would slide out. but it doesnt budge? is there a process for assembling/disassembling amplifiers, along with the use of that white (thermal?) paste? google searching yields no solutions on how to take this beast apart. help!!! :noob:

please dont replace a radial cap with an axial cap.

You can go to a higher voltage cap, just make sure the uf is the same, and the cap fits in place

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

eeeeer.........

From the looks of that cap I'm not super certain that it's a polarised cap. Being 250v it may be in the output section for filtering. Can you get pics of the old one from both sides? If it's meant to be non-polar and you put in a polarised one bad things will happen.
