dugee81
Yeah the flares are to help with the movement of air and how smooth it enters and exits the box. You could jus use pvc, it might not sound the best. You could flare it, but you need the proper tools to flare, and that'll take sometime. But if you are down for manual labor beyond just installing a premade flared port, go for it. FaTbOy911
Theres tutorials on how to flare pvc Quote Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van. Cashdollar2009
If you are using something 6" or smaller, might as well buy the Precision Port in my opinion. Unless you are good at it, I find it worth the extra bucks for one made "flawless." If you want to use an 8" or 10" or etc, you gotta make your own out of pvc. If you make your own out of pvc to look exactly like the precision's, they will sound the same. Quote On 6/30/2011 at 1:11 AM, 'Ray' said: Acoustical energy is free. Electrical energy is not. Robert8252
Buy from parts express if theirs are long enough. It's a bitch to flare 6" PVC no matter how easy the videos make it look.
