kickass audio Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 nah i got myself one of them. i was going to get two but idk if i REALLY need that much bass. im bass horny dont get me wrong but im feeding around 8kw rms to the smd and it should get pretty nasty at the box i am making for it. I originally had a solox but blew that up fast because my dad insisted i buy a prefab box and turns out the box was tuned to 60Hz and i was hitting it with such low notes that it bottomed out and burnt itself up. CJ18 has my solox now and he shot the cone with his gun and then burnt it in a fire My SMD isnt installed yet tho, its just sitting in my room along with all my amps, wire, and speakers for my new build this spring/summer. kickass audio Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 the only true thing i totally HATE about the envoy is that i have the damn l6 engine, which dont get me wrong it has pretty good performance stock but ill upgrade that this summer but the alt is a total pain in the ass to replace. it too me 1 hour to swap it on my old car which was a 1998 oldsmobile 88 ls, and then i got a new unit from mechman for my envoy and it took me 7 hours. 7 HOURS!!!! all because of how cramped it is and that gm put the damn air compressor line right in the way of the alternator bolts so i could barely get in there. i looked emo after i swapped with the stock alt to the mechman alt i have now from the cuts on my hands and arms. lol. Ordered all my shit then about a week later tore into it and got everything put in lol. Now I just need some of the SPL Dust myself. Best I've done with the SMD off an SAZ-4500 @ 1 ohm nominal (3.67 after rise, what a bitch) is 147.8. Dropped in my friends D1 BTL @ .5 nominal and did a 150.3. Your car is probably going to want to peak around 38-40 so tuning to 32-34 is optimal

Glad I didn't get stuck with an I6. Kinda pissed I didn't do much research before I bought it though, could have bought a fucking TBSS instead with a 6.0 LS2 but no, I just bought it because it said Denali on the side.

I'm extremely happy with my box (tuned to 33), I just want to try something new so I can pull this box out, brace it, and resin it.
