I mean no disrespect but it must not be for me. How big of a gain spl wise could you get let's say same setup just swapin 5k to 12k? sorry, but this is just a stupid question. youre asking if there is a possibility in SPL gains when more than doubling the power? 5000 watts....to 12000 watts... and you must not be familiar with big builds. stable electrical is a requirement for any size set up, and of course it takes power to make power. so with the amount of current required to provide stable electrical to supply the current for 12000 watts, yes...it is going to be a little bit more than your average bear. and how is the 5.0 a lot of money? how many 5000 watt rms amps have you purchased? used? installed? im sure you were just being vague but jeez. the question isnt even properly formed to give a good answer. can the subs even take 12000 watts? are they in an enclosure providing enough motor control while keeping thermal capabilities? i would say it IS possible to see considerable SPL gains from switching from a 5.0 to a 12.
