matt14
Was just looking at the dc site and compared the XP, PRO, SP lines and was wondering what the differance between the three actually are. What im looking at is what make the xp line so great? Trâgîk
Yeah xp in my opinion thier best model. The idle output is amazing on them. The hp series is the Hairpin series for the smaller cased alts i think. Ik not sure about the other two Edited February 24, 2011 by Trâgîk Quote -----SELLING EVERYTHING---- 2 DC sound labs 3.5k's (still avail) 2 HDC312A D1's (still avail) 5 XS Power Batteries (1 d3400 and 1 d1200 left) 4 runs of knukoncepz 0 gauge (have all the wire still) DC power 270XP alt (sold) RF T1 6.5 components (both sold) Powerbass XAX 4160 (still avail) Custom built box 4.75^3 tuned 34hz (still avail)
speedball1978
XP is definitely their best model, but they don't carry the XP for every car, I ended up with a HP series..
matt14
Well i checked on there site and compared the alt output at idle and was only 20 amps differnce from the xp line and the other two lines. XP was rated at 170amps and the others were at 150amps at idle. Not much for the price differnce Quote 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-

Guest DC Power Kyle
The difference between the XP versus for example the HP and SP is the XP will maintain a higher idle output for longer periods of time. XPs will lose 15% less output when hot versus a conventional alternator. We rate our XP series alternators VERY conservatively in contrast to what for example the SP series does. Take a look at these two examples for performance sheets. Note that typically vehicle RPM to alternator RPM is 3.5 to 1. https://www.dcpowerinc.com/performance_sheets/270-XP.png for our 270 XP unit https://www.dcpowerinc.com/performance_sheets/270-SP.png for our 270 SP unit. skittlesRgood
it's not just an output difference. the XP line is just bad ass. i love that the bearings are bigger and stronger. it means you can tighten the belt as much as you want, you wont hurt the alt. if you call and talk to DC they can, and probably will, go on for an hour about how much better the XP alt is lol.
