zayres29
15.9 - 16.2 is safe for daily but i wouldnt go much higher than that also it depends on the vehicle on 14v batteries of course Edited February 26, 2011 by zayres29 Quote Btw that was the first person. AMI CUSTOMS
If you are running 16 volt system then you would have batteries that are made for 16 volt system and a step down for the vehicle to operate at 12 volt system, so leave it at 18 volts charging and rock on. You won't want to raise it up and down, unless you are short on the current demand. MECHMAN
If you have two alternators, just run the 12 volt alternator to a 12 volt battery to power the vehicle, and run the 16 volt alternator to the 16 volt batteries to supply the sub woofer amplifiers. 16 volt AGM batteries should be charged around 19 volts in order to receive a proper charge. I was told no, they arent ment to be run like that daily. My 12v alt does run my car, thats its sole purpose in life lol. Just dnt wana have to rebuild an alt again. Quote 4 I.A. MECHMAN
If the alternator is built properly, it can run at 19 volts all the time. That is not to say it can run at full OUTPUT all the time, but maintaining good condition 16 volt batteries should be no problem.
