akustoms
hey guys i had a question, does it matter how far the motor/magnet of the sub is away from the back wall? also my sub is the AA havoc so it has the vent from the bottom of the motor. thx Quote 15"AA havoc, AQ1200d. fmedina
How are you building your box?
smashedz28
Im curious on this as well. I was thinking of doing a sub forward port up box in a truck, so it wont be very deep. Thinking that the motor may be gettin kinda close to the rear port wall in the enclosure.
pstone11
I would go with 3/4" clearance. Quote Check out StoneSounds to see my recent builds.Or look at the Flying White Facebook Page!
akustoms
well i already built the box, and for some noob reason i didnt think about it. anyways its sub up port back in a 2003 xtreme blazer iv only got 5/8's of an inch between the motor and the port wall i was thinkin i could either just add another baffle so id have an inch or so but its already double baffeled so it would end up being triple lol. or i could just invert it. would triple baffle hurt anything? TeamHT
like said above. ive always at least done 1" clearance just to save time. Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
fmedina
Triple baffle wouldn't hurt but that would also change your cubic feet also if you inverted them.
akustoms
Triple baffle wouldn't hurt but that would also change your cubic feet also if you inverted them. ok thanks, ill have to figure that out. i already have the whole inside fiberglassed with resin and cloth with some chop in the corners. so i didnt wanna have to scrap it over a dam clearance issue. Cashdollar2009
A triple baffle would not do anything spec wise as you would just be adding wood to the OUTSIDE of the box. Also, by inverting the subs, you would be gaining more net volume equivalent to that of the total displacement of your subwoofers motors. This really just making your box "bigger" and dropping your tuning assuming you do not modify your port in any way. Quote On 6/30/2011 at 1:11 AM, 'Ray' said: Acoustical energy is free.
