I didn't like the paint when installed, so I later went back to a matte black.

Installed.

Batteries and Wires

The quality of anything is only as good as its foundation. I still love to compete, so I went big. 4 runs of 1/0 ground, and 8 runs of 1/0 for power. Battery under hood is a Lifeline Group31.

Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

I have ran many different subs in my days, and have absolutely fallen in love with Digital Designs. I have gone up the chain: 9015, 9515, 3510, and these 9917s. I held onto these and will put them to work in my current instal. They are custom build with full carbon fiber cones and were used previously by the one and only Steve Cook.

They're a lil rough, but it gives them personality. They are straight up beasts. I had one running in 6.5 cubes with over 4kw and she loved every minute. They are very musical and extremely loud.

This is my first opportunity to run DD amps. I came across these and recieved amazing deals on each.

I do hate the fact they are not matching, the C3b is brand new, but the way I plan on mounting them they will work together and look as sexy as they are in their own way.

Current Enclosure Build:

This will be updated quite a bit as this is a work in progress. I have tried to stay away from walling this for a while, and am currently succeeding again.

I am quite confident in my fiberglassing so I decided to do this. I masked off the areas I needed molds of.

Doin' work.

12.jpg

I only have one day a week to work on this, so I was focused on the matter at hand and not taking pictures so lets fast foward a bit.

Molds trimmed and glassed into their new home.

5-2.jpg

Had some extra resin so instead of making a hockey puck, I decided to coat the inside of the enclosure.

3-3.jpg

After some generous calculations, the molds only take up 1.6 cubes but allowed me to have an extra 16" of width. I'll take that all day long.

This is where I'm at with my build. My day off is on Tuesday so expect some serious updates than, but tonight I still played around a little.

She fits. :)

6-2.jpg

My 10 year old atleast Concept mids amp, that amp has been thru every install and never missed a beat. This amp has been soaked with a 2liter of Sprite, thrown around, pinned up against seats, dropped, just straight up abused and keeps on tickin. I still may keep it just cause its a damn trooper.

7-1.jpg

Measure twice, and cut once. Fully functioning rear seat.

8-1.jpg

Checking fitment ideas, the amp will not go here, that area will be home to the port and batteries. I think she just wanted to get in the picture. ;)

9.jpg

They did too, the girls came out to check out their new home.

10.jpg

I'm not a fan of inverted subs in most cases, I have had a installed in inverted subs before, but it looks pretty good like that.

11-1.jpg

And thats where I will leave it for the night. Thank you for reading, all criticism welcome and encouraged. Check back for updates!

9917's are easily the ugliest subs DD ever made, I do not care for the basket and the motor is tiny so please don't run the them inverted. And is that a Z1a or a regular Z1? The regular Z1s blow like its their job, I bought a refurb once with all the issues corrected and it still had a loud thump upon turn on. I think I sold it to the chode, anyway I'm still watching this regardless because the 9917s are still very beast woofers and the Z1s put out some crazy power (when they are working anyway). Keep the pics coming!

It's all gone!
