xBIG-MIKEx Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I'm still fairly new to the whole car audio world, and need some help. As of right now i have a small "starter amp". Its a 600 watt 4 channel sony xplod. I have a pair of 12" JL W3's bridged off the amp and they work just fine. However, recently i went to connect another sub to the amp as well, and found out that the other set of terminals are putting out no power. no matter what i do, it just wont do anything. The amp as two channels for each side, front and rear. The rear channel works fine but the front does not. Please help me figure this out. Thx
iKidwell Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 it's probably just because its a sony xplod..it's not worth fixing..save it for the 4th of july and strap like 6 big ass fireworks to it and see if they can get it off the air and blow it up c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old. i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer. 2003 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan Build in Progress

kickass audio Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Hey, did you try to swap rca's (put your front rca's on the rear and vice versa)? Also try to not bridge it just for testing and go channel by channel to see if it is working, this will tell you whether or not your channels for the front are working or if a rca is loose at the h/u. Also how do you have the amp bridged? From what i have seen should 99% of the time be the left channel Positive and right channel negative (in your case for both the front and rear output terminals) You CAN NOT try to bridge by taking the left channel positive of the front left speaker to the right channel negative of the rear right side, it will not do a damn thing. Also if you try to bridge in two ways for example you are just using your front outputs and you currently have it bridged using the left channel positive and right channel negative, you must NOT use the left channel negative and right channel positive. The left channel negative and right channel positive will be pretty much dead since it is not intended to be double bridged on the same outputs (if that made any sense) And finally, what impedance are your speakers? xBIG-MIKEx Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 The way i have it bridged currently is by using the rear channel, with (+)left and (-)right. It sounds fine when its set up this way The amp is set up with two sets of RCA input jacks (front channel and rear) and the rear channel terminals are (+)(-)(+)(-) and front (+)(-)(+)(-) Whenever i try and use the set of terminals for the front channel, its like my subs are not even plugged in. Ive tried both bridged, and using the individual channels and still get nothing. Im not 100% on the impedence, i believe its 4ohms. The way the guy set them up is that there are two subs (both have 4 ohm impedence individually) and the box only has 1 terminal, idk if that may change the impedence or not. However the impedence shouldnt be a problem, because i tried the same thing with my other sub (which is 4ohms) and still got nothing
