2x Level 5 18" boot install

Recommended Posts

Hi there, im from the UK, and just thaught id show you my install.

its in a MK6 ford escort, and theres 2 level 5 18's in the boot :D

amps are 2 SPL Dynamics S2000-D's

power from 4 Hawker genesis batteries under the bonnet, and at the moment just a stock alternator.

its a bit of a different box, here r some pics.

the start of the box:

Baffle and port section made, with the amps test fitted

P1200018.jpg

pretty tight :o

P1200019.jpg

some batteries and cable

Finished (nearly)

P3130061.jpg

i had it tested a while ago, it did a 148.1 @ 36hz

pretty happy with it, but my target it 150+

looking to get the alt done asap, and hoping that will give me some gains.

what do you all think?

I'm surprised your "stock" alternator is still running with all of that drain, what is your alternator rated at? i'm guessing at most 120Ah? Sorry for sounding like a kill joy here but any lengthy playing will see you ruin your alternator

He said he is going to replace the alt asap.

120A not Ah, A= amps(ampere in nederlands) Ah=Amphour(ampere uur in het nederlands)

I think he knows it.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

well i got a bit bored and wanted some more. moved the amps and changed the port.

got an extra 49 square inches, and it is quite a lot more brutal.

future plans are the alternator. thats next on my list of things to do.

and then upgrade the amps. what would you guys recomend feeding these subs? i was thinking a sundown 3500 to each one. would they take more than that tho as people run those amps on the XL's. what would the Lv 5 take daily?

If you were thinking of a Sundown 3500, why not email a DC dealer about a couple DC 3.5ks? They are actually pretty damn cheap for 3.5Ks. Or maybe seeing if you could get a couple of AQ 3500s.

i would like the DC3500's, as i dont think there are any in this country yet, and i would love to be the 1st with them. i will make a proper decision when i have some spending money lol. could a dealer pm me with a price on a pair of 3500's please :)

  • 1 month later...

got some more done to this lately.

decided to put a big scoop up to take all the pressure off the tailgate and stop it flapping like mad, and an MDF roof too :D

also some more batteries, closer to the amps so there is less resistance in the cables.

its far from finished, still needs a lot of work doing on it.

Pix:

The start of the scoop...

P5200278.jpg

Scoo out to fiberglass it properly

P5260282.jpg

More batteries. note the messy as hell cables that are all coming out and being replaced.

P6050286.jpg

P6050287.jpg

scoop back in temporarily

P6060293.jpg

and thats it for now, will ad more when i do more!
