If you are getting warm coils then you ought to change some settings. These changes will also improve sound quality. I have level 5s running daily on 5000 watts each. Here is what I do everything on head unit flat no bass boost, lpf on head at eighty on amp absolutely no bass boost lpf eighty or lower.

I forget what head unit you said you have but if it goes up to 62 then your probably not going to get clipping from the head at 37 and below.

Just keep all bass settings at 0 on head unit if your not getting good sound with everything flat then you may have box issues.

And yes gain is a little more than a fourth of the way up, all eqs/gains, etc, on h/u is on zero.

....please set the gains correctly with settings flat. I have seen multiple things that just amaze me. Amp set correctly..by ear? Gain only a little more than a 1/4 of the way up. These are not conducive with settings set correctly.1/4 of the way does not mean 1/4 of the power. How was 1800 watts even clamped? It was asked how was the voicecoil wired but you stated 2 ohms. Not the correct answer to the question and even if it was wired to 2 ohms but gain is still not set correctly can still create issues. I didn't see any enclosure specs. Type? Is it allowing the sub to dissipate heat?

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Uhm alright no need to be somewhat of a dick, all im asking for is guidance, not someone who will tear a wrong answer apart and all you have to do is ask some of your own wonders such as box specs, heat dissapation, etc.

Yes i have those answers..

Box is 7.65 cuft internally tuned to 37 hrtz.

Subs are up, port back, triple Recessed baffle on top, sub does not seem to heat that much anymore no matter how hard its being pushed lately.

Amp is an ia40.1 , my bud had a clamp and a dmm, we tested output at idle a week back, and it was roughly 1802 at about 13 some odd volts

Help please /:

Honestly, if you turned everything flat and the

smell is still there it's up in the air what it could be.

Sub being warm could mean it's getting clipped or it's getting over powered.

Gotcha. I couldnt imagine 1800 rms being too much for an xl 15, but i guess i could back off the gain slightly more.

A clean 1800W is one thing, but a clipped signal is another...

Down to two ohms, soon to be down to 1 when the second dual 1 goes in

you mean up to 2 ohms.. so you have the sub in series right?

also what kind of music are you listening to? playing below port tuning is bad as well..

also... how is your voltage? put your multimeter directly on the amps power inputs and play a song.
