When you get square corners and flat tops/bottoms then you're getting clipping. Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. crunkjuice1 Posted April 3, 2011 Author Report Posted April 3, 2011 thats what I was asking skittles, thanks guys I was worried I was doing something wrong because like I said from the videos I have seen on web the tpi 440 screen video wave never goes as big as the large ones in my pics and the instructors just stop at the smaller wave like the small ones in my pics. Why do they settle for the smaller wave over the larger one?

My Alpine CDA-117 doesn't clip at max volume unless you turn the bass all the way up or crank all your low frequencies on the EQ. My Alpine CDA-117 doesn't clip at max volume unless you turn the bass all the way up or crank all your low frequencies on the EQ. kenwood KDC-MP424 most likely same as yours mine can go to 35 but wont square off but I leave buit in EQ at 0 for bass/mid/treble even so I lower volume to 28 wave still a bit tall just for safety. From their I go to Clarion EQS746. I have RCA from front RCA's going to EQ main input then RCA's from sub out on EQ to bass amp, then RCA'S from front output on EQ to mid/high amp. When I leave HU atvolume 28 going to EQ I play tone for the amp I'm messing with and look for clipping on those RCA's and with both sub level knob all the way up and volume knob all the way up neither 50hz or 1khz tones square off, the 7 bands on that EQ are mid way through turn. This is why I wonder if it would be bad to turn all the bands all the way up BEFORE setting volume knobs on EQ. Then set gains on amps, once their I would just lower the bands that sound to rough on particular songs.

When I am going off the actual RCA's as well as amp speaker terminals I don't get nothing on Oscope so I have to put it on ACV. The pics are off the male end of ipod jack that goes to head unit wave doesn't change just the mV does sorry about that. To add to this my friend was over yesterday and helped him with his gains, He also showed me the same EQ I have and asked me to hook it up for him. I did it but the difference between his install and mine was that on his EQ I turned all the bands up and as well as the the sub level knob THEN I set volume knob and actually saw clipping so I backed that down till wave smoothed out. Everything else was set right also. All he needs now is an upgrade on his sub stage.
