OrionStang
I'll be doing two sets of 6.5's for my doors. Each door will have the 2 drivers and 2 tweeters all mounted right next to eachother. Since the tweeters are right next to the mids anyway, can't I get the about the same sound from the coax's? My plan was for two sets of thesecomponents, but now i'm thinking about these6'5 Coax. Thinking about the change basically for getting the power I need from my amp and ease of wiring. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
dereileak
hope your not paying retail for those should be close, if it were me I would get components and find a way to mount the tweeters higher, will sound much better Quote 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)
OrionStang
Nowhere close to retail . The issue I have is the crossovers make for some crazy final ohm numbers, so wiring is a bitch. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

What would that come out to for the 6.5 components?

My Infinity sets came out to ~5 ohms wired in series. So it probably would be ~1.25 parallel. The RF's I want, no idea. Fortunately, I know someone that can test it for me if need be. OrionStang
Anybody else? Will the components really sound that much better? Same power, same general tweeter location. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
mr.p
It really depends but usually coaxials are really really cheaply made unless its a more expensive prosound unit which then are too deep for auto use alot of the time. I'm actually looking at the pictures as we speak. I think you're right, the components seem to be of better quality. EDIT: Side by side they are no that different. Hard to tell without holding both in my hands. Edited April 14, 2011 by OrionStang Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Robert8252
I run these for rear fill so they aren't at full volume ever but when I was putting them in and cranked them up I was amazed how much midbass and how clear they were. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9609-hcx-165-hertz-65-2-way-hi-energy-coaxial-speakers.aspx I haven't ran Rockford mids and highs but comparing the Hertz comps to coax the coax definately could get the job done nicely. OrionStang
I'm just looking for loud and clear, I have 8's for midbass. I just found out that my price diff from the coax to the components will only be $20 more per set, so components it is, I just gotta deal with the wiring headache now.
