langsdon2 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 i found that jb weld doesnt like gas and heat for that matter i tried to replace part of cracked carb in the moped and it set worked for a little then ate through the jb weld within couple days The gas tank sees no heat whatsoever though, and personally id leave it just how you have it. Its made for this exact problem. Thats all u need to do. grim369 Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 ha a self tapper is what made the fucking hole!! and no im not dumb enough to weld around it. i was afraid to even light my torch to solder some 0awg in my garage tonight lol something i learned in welding school is to drain all the fuel and fill the tank with water all the way up to the spot to be welded. this will keep the combustion chamber so small that even if it did explode it wouldnt actually do any damage to anything. a good weld to plug up the whole with no leaks is going to make the tank good as new. good luck no matter what your solution
