crispy_chick3n Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 ok so today me and a few of my buddies decided to go muddin after the rain quit. had a blast. anyway on my last pass through the pit for the day i didnt hit it correctly, and slid down into the DEEP DEEP ruts and i got stuck. so i had a buddy pull me out. anyway after about 15 minutes of yanking, and i mean yanking he literaly backed up as close as he could to me which was about 10 feet away from me with a 30 foot chain, he gunned it. this happened a good 8-9 times. after successfuly pulling me out, we unhooked the chains got in the vehicles pulled to the clearing and checked the damage. no huge damage to either vehicle. anyway on the way to the clearing i noticed that none of my guages were working (fuuuuuccccckkkkkk) so i checked the fuse for the guages and saw it was popped, i put another fuse in and it popped. i stuck a fuse in that was rated 5 amps higher, and it popped. so i just took the fuse out and left the fuse out. as im driving home it is getting dark and i now notice that i have no tail lights, no brake lights, and no dash lights anywhere on the dash. i still had headlights and turn signals. i know that somewhere a wire or 2 has shorted to ground. as if that wasnt enough to deal with, my brand new power acoustic ptid 7002 nr-b quit working. so on to the point of this post, can someone on here with access to alldata please post up schematics for the guage cluster, tail lights, and radio. vehicle is a 1996 jeep grand cherokee loreado with the 5.2l v8. i would get them myself, but i compressed my back 3-4 days ago, and the bossman is making me take 2 weeks off to get better. doesnt bother me he is paying me sick leave, and paying for the doctors visits. thanks in advance. korey_hofer Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 it's probably wet and arcing out leave it sit and try again, other than that can't be much help sorry Quote previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. crispy_chick3n Posted April 23, 2011 Author Report Posted April 23, 2011 it's probably wet and arcing out leave it sit and try again, other than that can't be much help sorry while that is possible, it isnt very likely. it doesnt do this when it rains outside. im almost positive that something got knocked loose and is now shorting to ground. ill give it a good visual inspection in the morning to see if i can find anything out of place. Autruche Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 hmm... Sounds like you may have messed up your ECU or BCM wiring harness. All sorts of weird things happened to my grandfather's GMC Jimmy when the ECU harness got soaked from a car wash. Like if you'd step on the brakes the engine would start, even when the car was off and no key in it. and it would blow random fuses for no reason too. I think your best bet would be to try to get a Haynes/Chilton manual for it. I got a Haynes manual for my Saab and they have wiring diagrams for everything. From what I hear the Chilton ones are supposed to be even more technical. Is there anything on the12volt.com that could help you? Quote Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? From what I hear the Chilton ones are supposed to be even more technical. Is there anything on the12volt.com that could help you? yea i doubt it. my car isnt doing anything weird at all. there are just a few things that arnt working. as for an update today i pulled the fuse box away from its mounting location and i got lucky. about 3-4 inches from the fuse box i noticed a wire with some insulation missing. so i cleaned it up and wrapped it with some electrical tape and put a fuse in, it turnes out that is what was causing the guage fuse to pop. so now my guages are working. i still dont have any brake or tail lights, also still no dash lights. my radio decided it wanted to turn back on, but i have absolutely no sound from it. it doesnt seem likely that there is a connection issue because everything is soldered and sealed with heat shrink behind the radio, so i dont realy know where to go from there on the radio. if anyone could get schematics of the brake, tail, and dash lights it would be greatly appreciated.
