Ray
Well it's time to start Ray's car here at Superior. This is one of our first personal builds in quite a while. We're always so busy with customer cars, we neglect our own. Well now that we have all the equipment it's time to do this. We just got a 100ft roll of 3/0 wire and 20 3ft & 10 6ft 1/0 runs of wire with connectors already in place. The system will consist of... Woofer Setup: (4) RE MT 18's 8 US AMPS MD3D amplifiers (2,500rms each @ 1ohm) (20,000rms total) 10 Northstar NSB.100FT batteries (2) 3/0ga power runs from the alternator to the batteries in trunk. (No batteries up front) (2) 3/0ga ground runs from the front to the batteries in trunk. Engine, Chassis, alt bracket (?) Numerous # of 3/0 grounds throughout the engine bay and battery (trunk) area. Enclosure: 28.4cu^ft after displacement of woofers and port, w/~296sq^in port area, tuned @ 34.25Hz. Mids/Highs: (2) Planet Audio VX4004 amplifiers (4) Focal 165A1 6.5" component sets. (4) Focal 165CA1 6.5" Co-ax sets. Source: Pioneer DEH-P9800MP Sound Processing: (1) Audio Control Four.1 (1) Audio Control EPIC-160 (Epicenter Baby!) (1) Audio Control DQXS I think that is it. Hell, I can't remember. Here is a diagram for the cooling system. Beginning pictures of the cooling system can be found below. Well here are the starting pictures for you all. The Subs. The batteries, we have 4, but I'm almost positive we'll have 4 more next week! The Northstar battery is sitting next to a Stinger SP2150MAX ... aka: Odyssey PC2150 You can see the size difference from the 3/0 to the Stinger 1/0 wire. Here are a couple snap shots of the pre-made 1/0 wire we got. The connections are very nice. 20 3ft 1/0 runs of wire with connectors already in place. 10 6ft 1/0 runs of wire with connectors already in place. 100ft 3/0 wire roll! Update.... Ray bought a 1997 Aerostar Van. We're not putting the system in the buick. We got started today, so here are some of the build pictures. New Box specs above. Here is a picture of the rear AC in this Van. We plumbed it for a single 3" PVC tubing that will eventually be plumbed into the amp rack for cooling. Very cool! We also have another surprise with this AC system. but we'll keep it under wraps for now. Ran the 3/0 through the Van today! Matt "Is Gay" Penner, workin' on cutting out the pinch molding so we could slide a larger enclosure in and out of the Van. Remember, we plan on building an SPL enclosure with 2 18's for comps and a daily enclosure with 4 18's for the hell of it. All the shit we took out today! :glenn: Ray Ray workinerin like no other with his big dawg crab arms! :glenn: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/ryanautry/ray2/6.jpg Here is how far we got with the enclosure today. Still so much work to be done. WHen finished we will have a 3.75" front wall with 2.25" back wall. 1.5" sides, top, and bottom. 20 3/4" all-thread rods holding the enclosure together! Enclosure: 28.4cu^ft after displacement of woofers and port, w/~296sq^in port area, tuned @ 34.25Hz. The amps are here!!!!
