need help with my sub

k so i have my re se 12 with fi recone in a prefab box ment for 2 12s with one of the holes boxed off punched the numbers into torres after displacement im tuned to around 47hz the box is facing into my cabin with the trunk sealed off with a combination of wood and ducttape running the sub of a ap1800 at 2ohms. now idk if im expecting to much from this sub or what but i dont feel like its living up to my expectations i mean dont get me wrong this shit pounds but i really thought it would do more damage then when i had 2 pyle 15s running of a pyle "3000" watt amp in a sealed box with that set up playing oxycotten by lil white when bass would drop the mirrow would drop as low as it could go with this not so. should i not expect this single 12 to out perform to low end 15s or is my box just shit. amp sees high 13v mid 12 never under 12 at idle. the box i think is nice but perhaps its just tuned to high? input opinions please.

car is a 98 neon if that makes a differnce playing the sub with seats folded down

well, just because its an FI recone, doesnt mean youve magically increased motor strength. and it sounds like its a prefab box. you can not base its performance in such a shoddy enclosure. no matter how you think your pyles performed, enclosure is a huge factor and get one built. that would be my advice. are you planning on adding a second driver? if not, im curious why you got a D1/D4 recone...

if you would build a new box and take your tuning a lot lower say around 35 youd be ton happier but adding a second driver would also help

idk why i always add that its an fi recone but yes i plan to add another one i have the other basket and motor just waiting for funds for another recone. but how can just becouse its a prefab box make it the problem the box is rather solid and is made from mdf could the boxes tuning be the reason not the sole facter that the box is prefab?

The box can be made of MDF, but that doesn't mean much. It is more than likely tuned too high, doesn't have enough port, doesn't have the proper airspace for your subwoofer, etc and so on...

Make a new box - 13H x 32W x 14D

2 4" pvc tubes 24"L

This will give you a net of 2.10cf and a tuning of 33.84

That should play most everything you'll want to listen to.

If you can't afford mdf for now just use some partical board to get you by till you can get you 2nd sub up and running and make a new box for the pair.
