Windshield tiniting..

I really want to tint my windshield with 50% tint but I know its illegal. Has anyone here done it/gotten in trouble for it, and if so were there any insurance issues?

Also, Im getting above the AS1 line tinted tomorrow, the rest of my windows are 35%, should I match it or go darker? I'd like to go darker, unless its going to look funny.

%50 tint isn't dark at all.. Look very clear to me..

When I do mine it's gonna be 35% on the entire windshield and 5% strip on the top so the rest don't look tinted to much

My buddy did this to his windshield in washington. The cop gave him 2 choices when he got pulled over. Tear it off right there.. or get the car impounded.

I have mine done with 30%...I have been pulled over 3 times since and not one cop has said shit about it. The only thing they wanna know is why my Inspection sticker is not stuck to my glass but instead to a pc of clear plastic. Funny thing is I have been honest with every cop, one being a state trooper. I told them straight up, I have tint on my windshield. They always have to look again cause you can see out just fine and as long as the other windows are down you can see in just fine.

Now it is illegal here in VA, but if you can get the doctor to sign some paperwork to approve it your golden. I dont have this paper work but thats what I tell the cops, I am waiting for it to come in

IMO, 50% is perfect for the windshield. 30% is ASKING FOR IT lol......its nice, but asking for it. My Tahoe is 30, my Lexus and F150 are 50. Those 2 are just right, easy on the eyes and not drawing too much attention. I can say with 90% certainty that you will NOT be as lucky as the guy posting above me if you get caught with 30. LOL.

Keep in mind the darker your other windows, your interior and even the shirt you are wearing will make a big difference. In my tahoe, if im wearing a black shirt, you cant see me in there at ALL. If im wearing a white shirt you can see a slight "figure" in the car The lexus is all black inside and even with 50% its hard to see in at certain angles. The Ford has a grey interior and is somewhere in the middle as far as being able to see in. Depends on the angle.

its up to you but i am telling you from owning 3 current vehicles with windshield tint, 50 is the way to go.

My friend had this same situation worst part it was his Fleetwood limo Custom stretched... I know they are there to protect but some Officers have no sense of being...

its a risky thing to do i have my windows at around 30ish.(dont remember) and have never had a inspection sticker in two years and have only been pulled over once for speeding.(i am a moron) cop was a trooper... i told him the truth as the guy before me did. told him windows are to dark cant get one. he said just get it removed and get a sticker. so just keep the subs down around cops, windows rolled half way when you see a trooper, and of course the speedometer. you will be fine. doing 30 on front will make it hard to drive at night though. just a thought

I will disagree with the 30% making hard to drive at night. My suburban has stock 20% on all the windows except the two front. I tinted the whole truck over with 5% and left teh stock shit on so my windows meter lower than 5%. Actually my drivers window metered at 3%. I have 30% on my windshield and a 5% strip across the top. You cannot see into my truck at all unless you look thru the windshield and even then you can only see in far enough to see the top of the steering wheel. The only thing I have a hard time seeing is traffic lights and thats during the daytime.

My driveway is on an incline with a 5' block wall on one side and a dirt hill on the other, I only have about 2-3 feet of wiggle room total and ai can back my suburban up the drive with all teh windows up in the middle of the night without a problem.

If your worried about getting pulled for it i wont suggest 30 but like everyone else 50 would be cool and you wont have a hard time seeing day or night.

ya, you can see out just fine at night....the only thing i didnt like about the 30% windshield tint was that my new HID projectors didnt seem as bright to me, even though they are plenty bright. Other then that i can see out just fine.
