3kout
I have an alpine Type R (600W version, running at 700W) in a selaed enclosure at 1.25 cubic foot, and i have a box that is ported and tuned to around 35Hz and is 1.6 cubes after port displacement, which doesn't leave much room for the type R, but if I were to invert mount it would that make any noticeable difference by eliminating the woofer displacement? and if I did invert it would I have to reverse the polarity? gally
well...if you invert the sub you also have to invert the polarity from 0 to 180.. it =maybe= would do a Db more but, its all in the box... PS: inverted subs are cooler to look... fecupe2001
I´ve tested inverted subs before and score was almost the same , it had a small displacement so the internal space of the box didn´t change much affecting the score, in other words, for a daily application you can invert it without any problems, do it! TeamHT
There's also no real point in my opinion. You're not going to magically grow that much more volume by inverting the sub. 3kout
I'm not looking for the DB at the moment, just how it sounds, I guess I'll just try both ways and see what I prefer, just out of interest what would happen if I didn't reverse the polarity with an inverted sub? Bakerman
Man, I run type r's for years. I ran them normal, inverted, had the polarity reversed, and didn't reverse it. It won't make a bit of difference to the ear, or on a db meter for that matter. So, the only reason why you would do it is for looks.
