tonedeaf Posted June 29, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 29, 2011 Update for you guys...decided to attempt my hand at glassing. 2 hertz HSK 165 sets (one old one new) in each door, the tweets in the a pillars. Heres pics of the first attempt, but I overlapped the rings and had to reposition them. Long story short I got some help from the guys here on SMD and have been given new advice. Im getting professional rings made and shipped to me that are countersunk/rabbeted and are actually circular. Im probably going to cut up the door panel a little to really sink the drivers in a little bit more and get them a bit more sturdy before I actually glass them. Im hoping I can do it mostly right the first time so I dont need to redo them...as for the finish...im thinking of wrapping them in vinyl for the stock look...I also like suede/gloss finish idea too, but its still undecided for sure. Enough , Pics!: First setup: Wrapped in the fabric...you can see how bad the rings are misshapen and overlap. A few noob mistakes later I had no chance but to tear the fabric off so I could at some point start later. I went floating this last weekend is why I didnt really have a chance to work on these like I wanted to. But ill be reading up on how to do them alot more and getting alot more advice, including professionally made rings sent out so I can do this better. The reason nothing got done this weekend: In the pic theres 2 6 packs of woodchuck, a bottle of SC, some coke, and a 30 pack. Whats not in the pic is the other two 30 packs, 3 more 6 packs of chuck, a handle of crown royal, a handle of SC, and 2 bottles of Jack black label. We had fun.... Im not sure if I should reveal it or just keep it a secret for now. The sub(s) partially paid for waiting on the next couple paychecks. Lets just say these subs arent pushovers and will piss on my t1000 and beg for more. Which ill give it/them in due time. More pic updates, less so then the subs: Got a package in the mail yesterday. Fuckers forgot my family bucket... A couple I cant show you till I reveal the subs. CHROME. Prolly be washing the vic tomorrow and putting the decals on. Should be sexay.
