soundsystemaniac
so ive got this, and i know the box dimesions are not what the sketchup shows, but the airspace is correct. my concern is, will the sub magnet being so close to the port be bad? because if i shorten the port, it only raises the tuning. and i have heard that using aeroports is more efficient but this is a budget build so id prefer to stick with the slot (free) ports. and this is the biggest box that can fit in the trunk with the box still being removable. Any input would definitely be appreciated Quote Chevy astro 2 18s and 9k rms Walled!http://www.stevemead...rms-42-inch-tv/JEEP GRAN CHEROKEE SRT8 BUILD!2 JL AUDIO 15s trunk buildDC XL 15 buildDC level 3 18 buildhttp://www.stevemead...verunner-build/ http://www.facebook....hp?id=646651228

soundsystemaniac
id keep about the same port area but make the port shorter & wider. well i tried doing that but the tuning rose to like 38.xx ...? why is that? matt402
if the port area is the same it shouldnt change... 18x5.25 should still be 94.5" of port area, try that. Edited June 19, 2011 by matt402
soundsystemaniac
so what exactly is port area then?? im missing something cuz i though port volume and area are the same??? cuz i tried making it shorter and wider and this is what happened.. RAM_Designs
The height to width ratio does make a little difference. The more square the port is, the shorter it can be for the same tuning.
