Autruche
Alright. I had this secret (well, not that secret) door panel build going on for a while. I was going to wait until I was all done with the front doors before I posted it on the forum, but after talking with a few guys on here I decided to ditch the idea of running so many speakers, and concentrate on my staging and imaging instead. The plan was: 1 tweeter in each pillar 1 tweeter in the dash 4 tweeters in each front door 2 tweeters in each back door 2 4" midranges in each pillar 2 4" midranges in each side in the dash 3 4" midranges in each front door 1 4" midrange in each back door 6 6.5" woofers in each front door 2 6.5" woofers in each back door Here was the layout plan, note that I changed the amount of midranges per door later on. Autruche
Laid out a grid so I could cut them out without having to worry about getting measurements wrong Lost the pin for my jig. I like using the micro screw driver more cuz it doesn't fall out on me. I needed a router stand to finish the rest, but I don't own one... So, I improvised. Then I started on the door panel base. Autruche
Then, wouldn't you know it... The damn rings didtn't fit. So I had to make these. If you look you'll see there is a gap between the front top speaker and the middle bottom one. I wasn't too happy about that, but I just went with it anyway. Then it came time to make the midrange pods. They are meant to be sealed, that's why they were put on after the doors were started. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Then it was time for some sanding and body filler. Sanding fiberglass is MESSY. Went through a few belts thanks to my dad's POS belt sander not holding them straight no matter what. And this is where I left it at. I might apply the filler and finish them just for practice with body filler, but I'm not too sure on that one. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Well, I decided against doing so many speakers, so it was almost a complete waste of money and time. If it wasn't for the fact that it was good experience I'd be pissed at myself for not going the other way sooner. I guess it was more of a failed plan than a failed project. And it was actually my 5th time glassing, hdorre. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves?
