only get a grand prix gtp or a regal gs if ur goin 3800 v6. if the cavalier is a dohc ecotec cavalier then yes go for it or if its the quad motor. if its jus a regular ole 2.2 liter then hell no. I owned one and they are slow as dog shit and dont do any better on gas than the v6 would. same highway about 20 city. look around and find u a grand prix between 97-2002 gtp version. u can get them pretty cheap prolly in ur price range, and they will last a long time as long as they are maintenced. if u want sumthin with good economy and power, theres ur band for the buck. atleast in ur price range in my opinion.

one more vote for the grand prix! I have '97 with 120k , change the tranny fluid every year, minor mods, no problems! The 3800 V6 is what GM came up with to be a gas saving alternative to the V8's, no it won't smoke a V8, but its NOT slow! The GTP's are great! If you do get a GTP, MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE SUPERCHARGER OIL!!!

Imo either i4 or v8. Never really been a fan of v6's they don't have enough power and they are too hard on gas. Just My opinion

x2 this is true my moms 4.0 I6 jeep grand cherokee burns just as much fuel as my boys 5.3 v8 tahoe just cuz it has to work harder to make more power than a v8 does

(calculated we both get around 13.5 city)

that inline six is gonna last a shit ton longer than that v8..

the 4.0 is a beast of a motor. no slouch.

update: haven't made a purchase, going to the bank sometime this week. The one i was looking at was sold. Another place has one but it has 142k on it and its priced at $3.8k Is it still worth it? 200 dollars for another 30k miles isn't my idea of a deal....

Where are you located, and what is your price range? I have nothing to do tonight and won't mind checking around craigslist for you in your area..
