S15_Silvia Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 What's up guys- my friend approached me, asking if I could install a Scosche in-line FM iPod controller into an '05 Impala with the stock Delphi CD deck. The car's owner is a 20 year old girl who doesn't want to learn how to use a new deck, so we kept it stock. But, there are issues with the accessory power in the car. There are just three wires to get the Scosche working- yellow +12v constant, red accessory, and a ground. Spliced those into the yellow, red and black wires in the Impala's radio harness, and weird shit happens. The radio will turn on, but won't make any sound. So we undo the accessory wire, leaving the black and yellow connected. Turn the key to accessory power, THEN touch the red wires back together, and boom, the iPod's sound comes through. It won't work properly when we start the radio with the red wires already connected. What's goin on? Do we need to tap a different wire for accessory power? justcop Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Weird things happen with gms late models period when u screw with radio and don't get adapter. I have an 07. I would go under hood and run wire to fuse box which should have the fuses clearly marked on the underside of housing cover. Or hook up to constant power at box in kick panel with a toggle switch to toggle power on/off

S15_Silvia Posted July 3, 2011 Author Report Posted July 3, 2011 This is what we did, as of this morning. (Didn't check the thread before then.) Tapped into the +12v of the nearby cigarette lighter, put in a toggle switch for that wire in the center console, and ran it to the accessory in on the Scosche unit. That way, she can tune the radio to 97.5, flip the toggle, and bam- listen to tunes. Are we cool with not fusing that connection?
