jroshandtap Posted July 2, 2011 Report Share Posted July 2, 2011 i just got done with my big three upgrade, and i still have dimming headlights. can someone give me some advise as what to do? also my subs sound the exact same, no difference in sound. i want to add some secondary batteries but not sure what to go with. prolly because im also thinking of getting a new amp. maybe a kicker zx 2500.1 and if thats the case, what secondary battery should i get? Also, the minuet amount of amperage gain from the big 3 wont be audible to anyone. The big 3 is also just a stepping stone in car audio, its the first thing you do to get prepared for extra batteries or an high output alternator. In your case, a second battery would probably solve your dimming issue but we would need to know what amp your currently using. jroshandtap Posted July 2, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 2, 2011 2 orion 1200D amps for 4 L5 12 dual 4 ohms subs. then a crunch 4 channel amp for mids and highs, that amp is like 5 or 600 i think. 1 of my orion amps is pretty new, the other is atleast 5 yrs old. ChevyBoy95 Posted July 2, 2011 Report Share Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) youve got too much current draw for your current ability to provide powre. x2 at full tilt you are probably pulling anywhere from 150-220 amps of current (if its say 2500rms on music). Stock alternators usually only product up to 105-110 amps at 1800rps or whatever they are rated to, and a lot less at idle. You really need either a second battery in the back (a decent sized battery like XS, Kinetik, C&D, Deka, etc.). IT TAKES POWER TO MAKE POWER!!!!!
