Guest Wood Posted July 5, 2011 Report Share Posted July 5, 2011 Okay, so my old battery was going out on me, have had it for like 5 or 6 years with numerous systems on just the one battery, the battery came out of my dads race car, pretty much the same thing as an optima with gel cores i believe. it was having trouble keeping a charge, if i didnt drive on day and let is sit it wouldnt start on the next day... ( i also have a kenitic in back, the smallest one they make, now.) So i got another battery from my dads race car, basically the SAME exact thing (six round cores) it is actually a little taller than the old one. It has NO problem holding a charge, as i just let my truck sit for TWO days and it fired right up. But my stereo has had a significant drop in volume, just doesn't pound like it did before... even with the old battery going out on me it still slammed better than this new one... what the hell is going on??? i thought i would get louder if anything, not going backwards. one thing i might mention is that the negative post comes in contact with my hood, cuz the battery was a little taller, i dont think this should really have any effect as i have a body ground connected to the fender right next to it. if someone smarter then me knows why this might be no bueno let me know. could it be the newer battery has a slower discharge rate or something of that sort, im stumped. any input would be appreciated, ill go snap some pics real quick... Is it ACTUALLY quieter. im pretty sure its quieter, my friend that rides with me on a normal basis thinks so, then my friends dad, who i gave a demo to once, heard it after i swapped em out and he even said i didnt play it as loud this time, when i played the same song on the same settings... heres the new batt installed resting voltage after about an hour of sitting. 12.69 (keep in mind i have the small kenetic out back also) and the old one i took out.
