RickyFriery97 Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Merzbow, i will be ordering a dual alt bracket from DC power this week, and running a 300 amp alt seperate from the stock alt like your doing with your three, how do you have your seperate alts wired up so they "turn on" with the truck amd "turn off" i will only be running a single extra alt DC power will give you a harness with a relay, these are the instructions for how to hook it up: https://support.dcpowerinc.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/4/0/installation-guide-for-relay-harness-with-blue-sense-wire The tricky part was finding a place in the fuse box. I could not find an unused fuse location that had power running to it and was ignition-switched, so I had to take over a used fuse location. The fuse on the relay wire is 5 amps, but the lowest switched fuse location I could find was 10 amps, so I just switched the 5 amp fuse with the 10 amp fuse. This should be fine since I'm sure the relay and the relatively thick wiring used can handle up to 10 amps without catching on fire (in the event of a short). I'll get you the exact number of the fuse location I used, hopefully the layout should be the same on your truck. awesome thanks! im ordering my bracket today since they confirmed it was in stock, are your secondary, third and fourth alts the 4 pin oval connector? thats what my secondary alt will have so i need that harness. I think they have three-pin connectors, while the alt in the OEM position has two-pin. Are you getting your second alt from DC Power also? Yea if your plug only has one wire (that's how my Iraggi was as well) that's it. I was having trouble trying to figure out how to carpet a huge box for 4 18s before I read through your build log and with all of the step by step pictures you posted I was able to carpet the box flawlessly. Great build and amazing attention to detail.

scooter99 Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 That's for when you tow a trailer that has brakes on it, it will activate those brakes on the trailer when you brake so you don't take the full load on the truck to stop. The trailer essentially will stop itself! Comes in very handy on bigger trailers, boats, etc. Nice work on everything!
