I gave my computer to my mom when I bought a laptop and it has worked fine.

Last year the power supply went out and I put in a new one, all was good for about a year and then suddenly its acting up.

When you turn the computer off, the hard drive stays spinning. No lights are on or anything. I'm very confused why the hard drive is continuing to run. I checked all the wiring to see if i could spot a short causing the power supply to stay on but there isnt anything that I can see that is grounding out.

Anyone ever heard of this?

Pretty sure I checked that but I'll double check this weekend when I go home. I'd like to get this thing up and running at somepoint even if it needs a few dollars invested.

Could also try moving the HDD to a different accessory plug and see if that will work. You never know

Id say the power mamagment in the BIOS, also make sure the wires are good, because one of the wires of the four that come from the power supply to connect to devices is to turn things off when the pc powers off, I snipped it on my old computer and since then stuff stayed on even after powering down.
