727Designs
Not enough port area. Confused.. It says its tuned to 33.8? So how is there not enough port area? You don't have enough in^2 port per cube. Need 14-16 or so. You may be tuned to that, but the port is too small. You don't have enough in^2 port per cube. Need 14-16 or so. You may be tuned to that, but the port is too small. Can you please explain this a little more please Open Torres calculator, enter your dimensions, and your port. You'll see it's like 8 in^2 per cube. You're tuning would be correct, but due to the port being too small you'd have issues with port noise and some other things. You need to make your port bigger so it's around 14-16 in^2 per cube. I use Torres for the basic design, then plug it in BassBoxPro for the plotting and fine tuning. Also don't forget to put in all displacements and figure for bracing before you start figuring port or it will change port area and tuning. Also I'd double baffle atleast with that sub. SkylarDunn
sigh... people telling other people what they NEED when they have no clue what they're talking about them selves... op, gimmie the t/s specs of the sub and i'll tell you if thats enough port area. im sure the port is too small, but you dont need 12-18 in^2, that all depends on how much xmax the sub has, how big the box is, and the t/s specs. the last box i built had 5 in^2 of port per square foot and i didnt have a single noise issue.
