Sure if it can hold everything you have, an external drive is the best way to save all of your music, movies and videos.

Only if its in addition to an off site backup. If you aren't backing up remotely, then you don't have "the best way" to save your stuff.

I suggest Carbonite.

Then again, I'm more hard core than most.

Ideally, you should have at least two backups of all important things. One on site, and one off site. So that if you need to get back up and running immediately, you have all the stuff locally, but if there is some kind of disaster (fire, act of God, etc) you still have those files.

Carbonite is automatic backup. And in my opinion, its cheap for the service you get.

You may be offended by the above. Don't take it personally, I'm just abrasive.

Get yourself a 2TB USB drive $89 and call it a day, if you want a flash drive you can get a 32GB USB for $32. The USB HD is your best bet for backup long term, the USB flash drives tend to get corrupted if you don't remove them correct. Never store data on flash drives you cannot risk to lose.

Well I live in CALI where we have a store named Fry's. They have a website but I think you can only get the $89 price in store only.

http://www.frys.com/

This is the one listed on my local ad for $89 You can get it on Amazon with free shipping and no tax. $89 out the door.
